The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday (August 28) announced the 15-man squad for the upcoming three-match T20Is. series against Bangladesh. Suryakumar Yadav will captain the team while pace sensation Mayank Yadav has received his first call-up.
India will face Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series. The first match of the series will be played on October 6 in Gwalior, and the second match will be played on October 9 in New Delhi. The last match of the series will be held on October 12 in Hyderabad.
The Test players rested before the intense game schedule and the staff saw some players recalled to the squad. Abhishek SharmaSri Lanka, who missed the T20I, was included in the squad along with Rinku Singh, while Ruturaj Gaikwad was dropped from the side.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been one of the team’s consistent performers and his omission from the T20I squad came as a big surprise. He also had a great outing with the bat in the Duleep Trophy 2024 and was expected to be in the squad.
Mysterious spinner Varun Chakraborty, who last played for India in the 2021 T20 World Cup, has been recalled to the team. He has been a consistent performer for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL and was expected to be in the team soon.
Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma are the two wicket-keeper-batsmen selected by the BCCI in the Indian team for the three-match T20I series. Ishan Kishi was expected to make a comeback as various reports also suggested it, but it didn’t happen as he was still out due to BCCI’s contract being terminated.
All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has also been drafted into the squad. He was included in the Indian squad for the five-match series against Zimbabwe. But at the last minute he was pulled out due to an injury and was replaced by Shivam Dube.
BCCI has also named a home all-rounder in the team. Hardik Pandya is in the team along with Shivam Dube, Riyan Parag and Washington Sundar. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi is also included in the 15-man squad for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh.
together with Arshdeep Singh and Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana have also been included in the squad. Singh will lead the fast bowling attack along with two young fast bowlers. The trio could be key to the team for the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be the home World Cup.
