MotoGP fans have had their say after the MotoGP Sprint Race at the Brazilian Grand Prix was delayed due to a water hole.

MotoGP fans have called for the sprint race to be cancelled.

MotoGP fans took to social media across Reddit and Facebook to share their thoughts on the delays and the sinkhole.

There were mixed opinions about whether the Brazilian Grand Prix was held at the wrong time of the year, as March marks the end of Brazil’s wet season and calls for the sprint race to be canceled altogether.

Someone asked, “What’s bothering you right now?” It was a first for many fans, he said.

One commenter also said that scheduling the Brazilian Grand Prix in March was a mistake, “When did people realize that you don’t schedule a race in Brazil at the end of March, it’s always raining at the end of summer. They had the same problems until they decided to move F1 to November.”

Another commenter called for the sprint race to be cancelled

With a fixed patch, one person commented on how the new surface feels, “I worry that the riders hitting the fixed patch straight will feel like hitting a 300km/h speed bump.”

After long delays, the MotoGP Sprint race at the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna (Goiânia) started with a fixed position at the start and a straight finish.

Fabio Di Giantantonio started the sprint race from pole position for the VR46 Racing team and held the lead for most of the race. However, with three laps to go, the Italian made a mistake and lost the lead to Marc Marquez.

Once Márquez took the lead there was no looking back, after being denied victory in the Sprint Race at the Thai Grand Prix, Márquez was again denied and held back by Di Giannone.

Marquez won his first Sprint Race of the 2026 seasonBut he was closely followed by Di Giannantonio in second place, and Jorge Martin found himself in third place and got his first Sprint podium with Aprilia.
