“I’ll drop Zepeda Fight for Tank”: Shakur Stevenson calls out Gervonta Davis

Shakur Stevenson says he will drop his plans to defend his WBC lightweight title against interim champion William Zepeda as Gervonta Davis agrees to fight against him. If he says Tank has another fight he planned, he will continue with the collision against Zepeda.

Fans on social media point out that Shakur (23-0, 11 COs) previously had the chance to fight Tank Davis, but he blew his chance. Now he has to live with his choices and take what battles he can get before he upset.

Newark demands

It has yet to be seen whether Shakur’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, can deliver him the Zepeda battle he wants, because without the Saudi involved, the money needed for the fight is not there.

Hearn says he wants Zepeda (33-0, 27 COs) to agree to fight in Shakur’s hometown Newark, New Jersey, who is unlikely. Zepeda is too popular for him to put himself in a position where he can be robbed when the competition is near.

“If I could happen next, I would take a tank, but the battle that has already been presented is Zepeda,” Shakur told Dazn Boxing when asked against whom he wants to fight next. “If Tank says,” Let’s fight, “I’ll drop it, and we can junk. But if he has something else going on, I will junk with Zepeda.

Shakur mentions the name of Tank since arriving at Lightweight in 2023, but he made no move to fight the kind of murderers that the king of the division would take seriously.

Stevenson uses Davis’s name for promotional purposes to create false interest in his career without having risky battles. We have always seen Shakur take the easy path instead of the hard road. The one time when he fought a decent opponent, Edwin de Los Santos, he ran 12 rounds from him and threw out of the venue in the T-Mobile.

“I’ll fight in Newark. I will fight in Vegas. Where (William) wants to fight Zepeda, I will fight against him, ‘Shakur Stevenson tells IFL TV about who he wants to fight next. “That’s what I want. He is a hell of a fighter. He is the (WBC) interim champion (lightweight). I am the most important champion. If I’m the right champion, I know he wants to be champion. So, I’m here. Come and get it. ‘
