Abhishek Sharma survives scare to retain No.1 ranking

Despite a relatively quiet start to the T20 World Cup campaign, Abhishek has managed to retain his No. 1 position in the ICC T20I batting rankings. The young opener struggled for most of the tournament and managed just 89 runs in his first seven matches, putting his top ranking in jeopardy. But he delivered when it mattered most.

In a spectacular finale, Abhishek produced a stunning counter-attack, blasting a historic 18-ball half-century, one of the fastest fifties in a T20 World Cup final. This explosive knock not only helped India to win but also to take the top spot in the global rankings.

Meanwhile his opening partner Ishan Kishi also had a strong tournament. Kisha’s impressive performances, including a decisive fifty in the final, helped him move up a few notches to become the No. 2 T20I player in the world.

Rashid Khan replaces Varun Chakaravarthy as T20I bowler

However, fellow pacer Arshdeep Singh had a small setback. After a couple of expensive outings in the playoffs, he has slipped three places in the latest bowling rankings.
