The Saturday evening March 1 Salita Promotions Fight Card Main Event will display former IBF Super Lightweight Champion Subriel Matias while making his return to the ring to encounter Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela (30-3-1, 17 food) in Coliseo Tomas Dones in Fijno, Puerto Rico, Stream Live on dazn.
The last time Subriel Matias fought in his native Puerto Rico, he had a disappointing performance because he suffered the second loss of his professional career. Now, 32-year-old Matias is planning to save himself as he plans to win the IBF Super-Lightweight Title Eliminator Bout in front of his hometown crowd.
After stopping Petros Ananyan in the ninth round in January 2022, 140 pounds of sub -sub -subtly Matias developed the reputation of being the Boogeyman of the division. Matias mastered a relentless pressure style of offense in which he broke down his opponents and yielded a standstill in all his victories.
In February 2023, Subriel Matias Jeremias stopped Ponce in the 5th round and won the vacant IBF Super Lightweight World Title. A year later, Matias would return to Puerto Rico for the 2nd defense of his world title. Unfortunately for Matias, he lost against Liam Paro unanimously.
Five months later, Subriel Matias jumped back by posting a 2nd round TKO victory over Roberto Ramirez. Now the loud striking Matias is basically a step of the opportunity to earn the opportunity to become a two -time world champion.
30-year-old Mexican boxer Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela is looking for the role of the spoiler. On the night of March 1, a victory for the Underdog Valenzuela would result in Matias’ homecoming being destroyed and title Challenger place.
In May 2022, Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela faced the then unbeaten 140 pound Montana Love. In the opening round of the attack, the Southpaw love linked to Valenzuela with a right hook.
Valenzuela would fall back in the second round when he started a left hook that sent love to the canvas. The fight was very competitive, but at the end of the 12-round competition, Montana Love scored a unanimous victory, as all three judges scored the match 114-112 in favor of love.
After losing to Montana Love, Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela would put together a 5 -game winning line. Now he is scheduled to participate in a career that has the match that has the world title implications.
Subriel Matias (21-2, 21 COs) is a pressure fighter who is considered one-dimensional, but the one thing he does, he performs it very well. If Matias can dictate the pace of the fight by using the high guard, pushing forward and getting his shots, it can become a painful night for Valenzuela.
To make Valenzuela upset, he must steal Liam Paro’s playbook. Valenzuela must establish its stitch, control the series, box from the outside, use the clinic as Matias comes too far inside, and well from the back foot. Valenzuela will have to be patient, disciplined and defensively responsible during the course of 12 rounds.
Saturday night, March 1, an important battle in Puerto Rico will take place between the hometown of Subriel Matias and Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela. The loser of this match will have to take a step back and rebuild, while the winner will continue to challenge the ruling IBF Super-Lightweight World Champion Richardson Hitchins.
