In his match against defending champion Liam Paro, Hitchins took over during the center of the fight. After the 12-round competition, one judge scored the match in favor of Paro, but the scorecard was rejected by the other two judges, both of which scored 116-112 in favor of Hitchins.
With the victory of the Split Decision, Richardson Hitchins became the new IBF Super-Lightweight World Champion. Now on his home grounds, Hitchins is ready to make his first world title defense against a man who is used to playing the spoilage role.
In November 2021, George Kambosos Jr. previously introduced himself to the mainstream when he upset Theofimo Lopez via split decision and won the Unified Lightweight World title. The native of Sydney, Australia, would continue to defend his title at home and suffer back-to-back losses from Devin Haney.
Kambosos would have another fight against a well -known opponent, but unfortunately he was stopped by Vasiliy Lomachenko in the 11th round. Kambosos jumped back by achieving a unanimous victory over fellow -aussie boxer Jake Wyllie.
Now, 31-year-old George Kambosos JR is ready for his opportunity to become a two-weight world champion. This fight against Hitchins will also give Kambosos the chance to prove that he is not a miracle.
