Paddock princess Andrea Iannone returns to MotoGP and the crime scene five years after accidentally taking some drugs. The handsome Italian Fabio will quickly replace him while under contract, while di Giannantonio, who is undergoing surgery on a shoulder injury, is flipping the bird powerfully behind Ucio.
In 2018, Iannone, who returned to Malaysia and did more work than anyone else in Gresini, failed a drug test for Drostanolone. The Italian mixed it up and said that she had eaten a cow that had eaten some grass that had a stimulant in it.
However, Andrea’s completely believable excuse fell on deaf ears and she was suspended for 18 months. Disgusted by the decision, Iannone took the case to arbitration where, ironically, the judge was in Dovizioso’s favor and her ban was extended for four years.
Despite the increased ban, the Paddock hottie refuses to shed a tear – not because she doesn’t want to, but because the plastic surgeon blocked her tear ducts.
This year, however, the ban (and the face) was lifted and Iannone returned to the world motorcycle stage like a wet firecracker with a full-time Ducati ride in World Superbikes. The charming Italian has peppered her with random middling results throughout the season, ranging from victory to ‘unexpected midfield loss’.
Her results were good enough, though, as the aging former champion Valentino Rossi temporarily held off his grip on Marc Marquez while Andrea offered Gianntonio’s ride in Malaysia.
But the big question is – does Paddock Princess Iannone deserve the ride?
Yes she does.
Iannone has done her time. Given the circumstances, a four-year ban was far, far too harsh. To make matters worse, she had to work a year at the WSBK retirement home, which meant she had to be constantly involved with the notorious dullard James Toseland.
Andrea is one of the very few riders with a Ducati contract so why not give her a chance to finish her MotoGP career on a positive note?
No she doesn’t.
Iannone had her time. During her years in MotoGP, she was not popular with anyone. With so many young drivers to offer this amazing opportunity – why choose Iannone?
