Wwelcome to Fully eligible 2026GOLF’s new platform to provide you with real golfer insight into which 2026 equipment might be best for your game. To that end, we gathered six GOLF content creators of varying abilities and put them through the gauntlet of six full-bag rigs (from driver to bag!) at six major club manufacturers in Phoenix and Carlsbad, California. In this piece (below), Jack Hirsh details the club he can’t live without from Fully Fit 2026, his Cobra 3DP MB 5-iron. You can browse our panelists’ complete dream bags for 2026 here:

If there’s one thing I’ve been shocked by during my Fully Fit 2026 journey, it’s how easy this 5-iron muscle can be hit.
Long Irons and I have always had a love-hate relationship.
I have hit some incredible shots with them. You know the ones that launch high off the face and rocket into the air straight down the line before rolling gently to the left as they fall back down to the ground, landing gracefully on the green and rolling towards the pin? Happiness.
But even when I’m playing my best golf, iron shots can cause me more trouble. Despite finishing runner-up in my club championship last summer, the numerous 200-yard par-3s at my club often left me feeling like I couldn’t get an aerial shot. Thank goodness for match play – but still, I bowed out of the final game after pulling a 5-iron 25 yards left on one of those par-3s.
And that was with an iron set that included a larger, more forgiving 5-iron.
Fast forward to early 2026 and I now have a 5-iron – a Cobra 3DP UK – I can stay and be really I’m sure I’ll hit it, just the way I want it. The surprising twist? SEEMS nothing like the 5-iron I thought would be my solution.
How I ended up on a 5MB iron
Heading into Cobra’s Fit Day for Fully Fit 2026, I expected to find a set of new 3DP UK and Tour irons that would be the best for my game.
I just didn’t think long irons would wow me so much.
At first, the new back muscle scared me. I have never played blades seriously before. I would probably make a skull, or worse, present the hosel, with these compact irons. But I was shocked at how easy they were to hit. This is due to 3DP MB’s unique 3D printed construction, which you can read more about it here.
I liken the feeling to hitting a mini driver off the deck for the first time. It felt like I was about to put the ball into the ground, but the heel of modern mini-drivers makes them almost as easy as a 3-wood to hit off the deck.
Working with Cobra fitter Andrew Lusty, we started with the 7-iron, as most irons do, and it didn’t take long to see how effortlessly I could hit the new 3DP MB getting similar numbers to my player. We also dialed in a shaft change and a flatter lie angle that has virtually eliminated the left side of the golf course for me.
However, as small as 3DP MBs seem to me, I couldn’t wrap my head around playing long line irons.

At the time, Andrew offered me 4 and 5 irons to hit to see if I could hit my target ball speed. These were softer and shorter shafts than I’m spec’d for, but the idea is if you can hit the specified ball speeds and peak height windows with the stock setups, you should easily be able to with the proper specs.
I was shocked when it only took me one swing to flush the MB 5-iron tank: 141 mph, 110 feet in the air. Exactly the numbers we were looking for.
We broke the set with the 4-iron because I was only able to muster about 141-143 mph from the 4 MB iron, just short of the required 5 mph ball speed gap. The past 5-iron was definitely my turning point on the downside. Switching to the 3DP Tour 4-iron, the effortless feeling returned.

Cobra 3DP MB Custom Handcuffs
The 3DP MB iron combines the look and feel of a traditional forged back muscle with the forgiveness of a hollow back iron. The most forgiving blade on the market, the MB has wowed Tour players by checking all the boxes and exceeding expectations with its incredible stability and feel. FORGIVING BACK MUSCLE BLADE SHAPE A slightly revised KING MB shape inspired by feedback from PGA Tour player Max Homa, the MB features a thinner topline and improved offset. The 3D printed inner grille and heel, toe and tungsten hose increases the MOI for stability and positions the CG perfectly centered and lower than the KING MB to promote higher launch. EXTREME FORGIVING MEETS SOFT FEEL The 3D printed inner grille structure not only optimizes weight savings, but also provides the stiffness and strength to support the face and fine-tune the acoustics of each iron to produce the most engaging sound and feel at impact. TOLLOFTEN WEIGHT Discretionary weight savings from the 3D printed grid allowed up to 55g of tungsten to be placed down in the heel, toe and shank, resulting in the perfect blend of a compact blade shape with a low CG and high MOI that reflects a game-enhancing iron.

Why this 5-iron is my favorite
While I wish I had played more golf by this point in the year, I have hit enough shots to know what a game changer this 5-iron is.
During indoor testing, I hit 8 shots with the 5-iron and recorded a carry standard deviation of 3.7 yards for an average of 204.5 yards. That basically means my 5-iron is like a wedge, but from 205 yards.
Knowing this is confidence-inspiring, but the ease with which I can still work the ball up, down, left or right has really proven the value of the club.
My goal with the long irons is to make sure I just don’t miss shots, but with this MB 5 iron, I feel like I finally have a weapon that I can attack the greens with from 200 yards.
