Putters are described as “emotional” clubs-in what you make links to TA-but in my case, my 3rd and I have had a special connection.
For the best part of the last five years, I have gamed a Taylormade Sim Ti Rocket 3-Wood That I chose at the beginning of Covid’s 2020 blockages and was used only once for the first two months I had them.
But it soon became my favorite club thanks to its forgiving size, only Steel and low rotation performance. Is a club that has also been known in PGA Tour with Collin Morikawa AND Victor HovlandAmong other things, still playing the model.
I have gone through some full equipment in my role as editor of gear, but SIM has stayed with me. I even re-sang it this year with a fujukura Ventus tr Blue to help the time better with my swing and saw even better results.
But finally, this spring, the dear 3-honored 3-Duri met her match when I got R7 quad mini driver
Here is what I found using the R7 Quad Mini driver and why, for the first time, I am officially stating that there is a permanent home in my bag.
Mini trench
I obviously didn’t understand it well the purpose of a mini driver Until this year. I knew that it would go into my game as more a replacement of 3 wood than a driver’s replacement, but my feeling was that my 3-detract was essentially a mini driver already.
I could fly my 3-dawn about 280 yards at a ball speed 164 km per hour and lead it to reach about 118 meters. My ideal trajectory is about 120 to 125, so it’s almost right in cash. But here is the issue: In the five shootings I did on the test, the club revolved on average about 2,600 rpm on average.
This is almost a perfect number of driver rotation, but with a 3-drru, it can lead to some discrepancies, with fraud that falls from the air, or the shots suddenly go away. Of course, being able to hit a 3-dude 280 and roll at 295 or 300 is excellent, but I often have not faced that stroke. More often than not, I’m using a 3-wood because I have to hit her less than 300 or 290 yard.
If I have to hit less than the driver, I don’t want to give up 50 yards and hit a hybrid Because even my 3-dude goes too far.
When I Tested R7 – and the other mini drivers (quadrant is just the one I like best, you can find as another better!) – I get numbers similar to the ball speed (164 mph), but higher rotation (3,200) and higher peak height (125). Moreover, I was getting much more durability of the ball speed, due to the largest club and the highest MOI.
Spin is your friend and will help you hit the tighter shots. So if I can get more of it and still save speed, this is a great thing.
The ball was also flying about 10 shorter (270) and rotating at 290, a much more useful number to me. Mini Driver just cooks better for me than 3-druri now.
A 3-Dru you can swing as a driver
Here I understood the benefits of a mini driver over a 3-drru. With the largest size of the head and the deeper face, you can pick a higher mini driver and swing it more like a driver than a 3-dru.
Trackman says I have hit in both a 3 tree in a tee and a mini driver in a tee, but I’m looking for a mini driver approximately an inch higher than a 3-wood, which results in me hitting a mini driver for a higher degree.
Because the head is bigger and more forgiving at the mini, I feel like I can simply swing more easily and freely-more as a driver-and I don’t worry so much about how I will hit it compared to 3rds.
I get that benefit from tee, while surprisingly getting good deck performance, though 80 percent of the time, I’m using mini outside.
Adjustment has endless potential
Quad R7 is really separated by other mini drivers thanks to the four -port adjustable weighing system. The system is modeled behind the original Taylormade R7 driver, who is 20 years old, but provides a wonderful suitable tool that is almost unmatched.
When I first put it R7 in the bag, I felt it attracted only a little. Mini drivers are shorter heels in the leg than standard drivers, so face squares easier.
I usually play with a weight in the toe because I tend to hit the shots from my toe, keeps my shots out of excessive drawing and allows me to hit a pallor. So I wanted to move a little weight to the toe, but I liked the club’s performance with both weights with 13 grams in the back.
Fortunately, Taylormade sells more than only two weights with 4 grams and two 13 grams that come standard in Quad R7. Through testing, the first combination I tried turned out to be the best where I put a weight of 7 grams on the front finger, 4-gram on my right finger and 13-gram weight and 10 grams in the rear ports. Now, I have a club that naturally attracts to me, but I can work on the other side if needed.
I am also able to put the adjustable sleeve in a lower click to get a club face slightly open, my favorite look that also helps me with a proper starting line.
Tommy Fleetwood and his Fitter, Tour Tour’s senior manager Adrian Rietveld, used adjustment to match the appearance and flight of Quad R7 ball with Fleetwood’s Brnr Mini, and Fleetwood Once you put it in the new mini this week at the traveler championship.

In a recent adaptation, I hit three balls with the quad before deciding that it was not worth the shakes to try and defeat it.
I never thought I would end up in a mini driver, but here we are, and I fully understand why it works so well for me. I’m not announced a mini driver is for everyone, but what I’m saying is that if you were skeptical, it may be time to review.
And if you are looking for a mini driver with the best adjustment tools, you should try the Quad Taylormade R7.
