Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is the second ranked Spaniard after world number 1 Carlos Alcaraz.
World number 18 Davidovich Fokina was overlooked for a place in Spain’s Davis Cup squad and said the decision rests solely on his shoulders. Captain David Ferrer.

“It was a decision of captain David Ferrer and I respect it. Davidovich Fokina told MARCA. “Obviously, I would have liked to be on the list representing my country, but this time he has decided to have other players.
“David called me a week ago to say that he wouldn’t count on me in the first list. Before that call I had told him to count on me. It will always be a pride for me to represent Spain, but in the end it was his decision and I accepted it.”
However, as the second highest ranked Spaniard, Davidovich Fokina said he believes he deserved a place in the squad.
“Being number 18 in the world, I think I deserved to be among the top four players in my country, with all due respect to my teammates, who, as I said, are also great players,” Davidovich Fokina told MARCA. “Now, my goal is to focus on the rest of the season and prepare to reach the highest level next year.”
The Spanish team led by Alcaraz is bidding for its seventh Davis Cup championship.
Here’s a look at Spain’s squad without Davidovich Fokina.
