A large box filled with No Golf The Loosies landed on my doorstep last week.
We’ll get to what the Loosies are in a second, but first I want to channel my inner Ricky Ricardo as I proudly announce to the world:
The love The equations.
If you’ve ever wondered why we still package and sell golf balls like we did in the 60s, you might find yourself loving Loosies, too.
Just remember, I saw it first.

Who is “Loosie?”
Loosie isn’t who, it’s what. Specifically, it’s a packaging idea launched just in time for Black Friday from Ireland No Golf. The seed is one of many innovative direct-to-consumer golf ball brands out there. Its third generation SD-01 scored well Ball Lab of MyGolbSpyand both SD-01 and SD-02 performed well in our 2023 ball test.
Seed Golf, like everyone else, sells golf balls by the dozen, packaged in four sleeves to a box. It’s a lot of cardboard.

Loosies are, as the name suggests, loose golf balls that are sold in bulk and packaged in a plain plastic bag.
“The term ‘loosies’ comes from my delinquent youth,” Seed owner Dean Klatt tells MyGolfSpy. “As a kid in Australia, if you didn’t have enough money to buy a full pack of cigarettes, we’d bully the shopkeeper into selling us a single cigarette, or a ‘loosie’.”
Seed is selling two of its most popular golf balls as Loosies. You can get Seed’s best-selling SD-01, a three-piece Tour-level molded urethane ball, or the SD-15, a two-piece Surlyn-covered ball, in boxes of 50 or 100, in white or yellow.
Loosies are all premium quality balls, the same ones you would get if you bought traditionally packaged seed balls.

Why Loosies?
Seed Golf Loosies are a Black Friday thing, but Klatt says the concept will be ongoing. Seed doesn’t have “sales” as we think of them as it offers subscription discounts on golf balls. Klatt says he just wanted to do something fun for Thanksgiving while also cutting down on all that cardboard.
“Our packaging is recycled, so it’s a little more expensive than usual to print,” says Klatt. “In the US, especially, we’ve noticed that most of our orders are for five or six dozen. We thought we could cut costs, save our customers some money and reduce packaging waste if we eliminated boxes and sleeves.”

Seed has already sold out of the SD-01 and SD-015 Loosies with 100 numbers in the US, but more are on the way.
The 50-issue box of Seed SD-01 Loosies is available on the Seed website for $115 with free shipping. That’s $2.30 per ball.
And when that big box from Seed shows up on your doorstep, you have to scream in your highest Cuban accent, “Loosie, I’m hoo-ooome.
You can’t put a price on that, my friends.
