Newcastle United Striker Callum Wilson has hinted that he is not thinking about negotiating a new contract with the Magpies right now as he is only focused on what he can bring to the pitch.
The England international is set to be out of contract at St James’ Park in the summer, and it remains to be seen whether he will stay at the club longer.

Eddie Howe, Newcastle manager He could probably do well to stick with this experienced player in the squad, although he is no longer likely to be a regular starter for the Magpies.
However, Wilson appears to have suggested he is not currently ready to sit down and talk to the club as he distanced himself from talk of negotiations.

As quoted by chronicleWhen asked about his contract situation, Wilson said: “I don’t think about it to be honest. You can only focus on the situation at the moment – the first and most important thing was to get fit, from from there you go from there, you stay fit, score your goals and then it’s up to the club how things go and, as I say, as a striker you score goals and earn longevity, right?”
Wilson added, however, that he loves playing for NUFC and is still confident in his ability on the pitch, so perhaps this is a subtle message to the club to give him his due when it comes to a new agreement
“I love playing at this club, I joined many years ago and helped the club many times over the years and I want to be a part of it,” he added.
“It’s about going in and out – as long as I’m on the pitch I’ve got no doubt I’ll score goals, but it’s about staying on the pitch.”
