I finally found something that works for my back pain caused by golf

You are not here to listen to me whine and complain about my back problems.

We have them all. Or, at least, it seems that most golfers have, at one time or another, dealt with spinal ailments.

I, like you reading this, have not been spared by the golf gods when it comes to back pain, specifically back pain that radiates down my legs. And, in some cases, after a long session of hitting the driver, pain in the upper back.

That’s why I’ve written about various products from brands like Hyperice that offer portable solutions to stubborn muscle pain.

it it is not that.

This accessory does not fit in your golf bag. Heck, it can barely fit in your car. But I’ve been using it for the past two weeks and it’s been a legit godsend for my sore back.

Bird is the word

Sign in Tweet. They’ve been around for a while, but I finally tried theirs Contour producta decompression and massage table/pillow. And from the moment I took the 22-pound behemoth out of the box, I’ve never felt more at ease.

It is not free. But what price would you put on pain-free golf? Generally, after a few months of golf (or a few days of hitting balls at the office), I’m stuck going to the chiro for a tune-up to make everything feel good.

with Tweet ContourI was able to achieve the same effect at home in about 20 minutes. It’s so much more than your basic massage block you get from your local Ross. This thing is packed with useful features that I have taken full advantage of including;

  • Two heat levels
  • Three interchangeable massage rollers (I’ve been using Deep Tissue recently, but all three feel good)
  • Three distinct massage modes (rolling, decompression, targeted)
  • Three predefined massage sessions (warm-up, recovery, relaxation)
  • Height adjustable neck massager

My experience

I’ve done almost everything you can do with this fancy cheat. Here’s what I’ve learned in my two weeks with Tweet Contour.

  1. Heat is a must. The two heat levels are fantastic for loosening tight muscles. I enable this feature every time I use it Tweet.
  2. The ability to target any part of the back is necessary. Using the included remote to target a specific area on my upper or lower back is much better than having a “one size fits all” approach to massage.
  3. Start with the soft roller. The contour roller and deep tissue roller can be a bit painful if you are not used to this type of massage.
  4. It is easy to change and store the different rollers. Just open the bottom of the device, swap and save for next time.
  5. Use it before your round, after your round and before bed. Seriously, it feels so good.

My only pain…

The only thing I would change is probably the only thing that can’t difference: portability. Such a device is difficult to maintain. It doesn’t fold, it weighs a lot, and moving it from floor to floor in my three-level townhouse is a chore.

This means that once you put it somewhere, it’s probably best to keep it there. Unfortunately, it’s not something you can travel with or bring with you to the course like a massage gun. That said, I have yet to find a product that does a better job of relieving my back pain than this one.
