There is no golf cleaner than golf links, and is a completely different game from what we are used to here in the United States.
Cordo July for the last four years, my father, some friends and I have been drawn to the Scottish highlands for the week after the open championship, where we play some of the best courses to offer, like Royal, oilGolspie, Fortrosis And more.
This year, we have played 216 holes in eight days, it can sound psychotic … because it is completely! But as much as a trip to Linksland is an examination of your physical viability, is also a Examination of your shot skill And how do you put your golf bag to take advantage of the wind days and the strong terrain. For this, I made two main clothing changes that helped me while sailing through the Highlands.
Nr. 1 – a ‘do anything’ iron ironing
When you play so much golf in not so much time, not all this will be a good golf. But when I played my best golf was really when I was making good decisions from tee and using a driving iron more often than not.
I have brought a 3-time with me each of the five times I went to Scotland, even when a hybrid or 5-tree usually invades that place in the bag (as it currently does). The first time, I didn’t have one, so I just grabbed an old blade of Mizuno 3-Hekuri from my father’s basement, but after that, I ordered a MP-H5 3-Iron-Hollied 3-Iron to serve as a moving iron when called.
Since then, I have always had 3-and-and-enrageds that were strong (19 or 18 degrees) and with heavy steel shafts that matched the rest of my handcuffs. I could never find a real service of services with a light graffiti shaft that allowed me to get the ball speed I needed from it or check the flight to make it a legitimate opportunity.
That was, while I was capable of the new U50 3-Iron title before starting the T title series 2025. I have detailed a little of my appropriate experience in My departure part for U505 and T250UBut it was for me to have a look to reach the high 150s for the ball speed while I was able to fly a stroke somewhere from 120 to 70 meters of roof height.

The single single face only improves the heel performance for stronger distance distribution. The slight interaction of the terrain by working with pro -Tour and Grind experts at Vokey Design, our engineers were able to further improve our only variable edge by softening the tracking edge to allow the club to flow faster through the ground, even after contact. A marked iron refining for one of the longest clubs in your bag.

I addressed them the most capable of disbelief after my first swinging with him.
We ended up going with a 20-degree head (3-heated), going two flat-degrees to match my handcuffs with an X Hzurdus 80 6.5 project shaft, which is about 50 g lighter than I have in my handcuffs. Normally, this would scare me, but now I have an iron that can fly through multiple windows and hold 240 yards with relative ease. I added a few strips of lead strips to the head just to get the shake weight to match the rest of my clubs (D4-D5).
In Nairn, one of the most fantastic direction courses I have ever played, the 3-Hakur came useful. With the predominant breeze in Nairn, seven of the first nine holes play in the wind. Apparently each hole has at least a pair of bunkers dictating an accurate setting of the tee purpose.
Transports are about 260 to remove bunkers from the game, but with any errors enlarged in the wind, trying to hit a driver over those bunkers can lead to disaster.

But with the 3rd, whether or not I try to lower the ball flight or not, I find a much more enjoyable trajectory. I could hit the shots that would still do 230 or 240 in the wind, and I didn’t have to change my swing or configuration.
This kept me less of the bunkers and then I had an open blow to run my ball up in green. Even if I left myself a longer approach, being able to use the ground in the second blow made the approach to feel shorter.
Otherwise, I could get a hole in the flow as the 10th short in fortrose and rosemarkie – a place where a driver or mini driver can cross over green and in Gorsse – and I can open in one and fly it above, use the wind and leave a ball just from green.
Truly really a kind of club made, winning the name “Iron Iron”.
Nr. 2-A comprehensive wedge with solic
Daily conditions in Scotland present a unique challenge for wedge shots. The herd is crazy strong, however the sand in the bunker is very soft and heavy.
A narrow wedge, with effective swelling effect can make sense for shots around the greens where you are trying to grab one and get it on a ridge or a lump, but they can also dig into the sand very easily. A wide -eyed wedge would be great to add apology and height to your shooting from bunkers, but it could make it difficult to create constant contacts on the fair with the highest main edge on the ground.
I usually play VOKEY SM10 WEDGEWORKS V GUARDED, Which is a high wedge, but still versatile for players who are slightly steep. It has been a great adaptation for me this year, but never left my travel bag in the pond, because I just hit a blow with Vokey K* (pronounced Kay-Star), I knew it would be perfect.
Title Vokey Wedgeworks SM10 K* Grind Wedge Custom
K Grind has a long place in the Vokey lineup, originally created by master Bob Vokey master with data from the best players. Known as the Ultimate Bunker Club, its wide flange and delicate cameras create a forgiving, polished surface, ideal for sand shots. K* Grind represents an evolution of the original K, created in response to reactions from today’s players who require skills in stronger courses. It is based on low K jump, with modifications such as facilitating heel in the foot for open-face shots and pre-only to reduce excavations on square-faced shots. This new design allows the club to sit closer to the Earth when it opens, improving the Greenside performance as it preserves the reliable Kurd Bunker game. Grind K* is available at 58 ° and 60 ° lofts (Rh only) with a raw finish.

Vokey Wedgeworks k* has grown in popularity in PGA Tour in recent years and has It has been in the bags of the last two winners.
The quarrel starts from the low wedge of the K-Grind jump, which has a single wide, smooth and adds a premature outfit to the main edge and relieve the skirt of tracks on both heel and toe.
Why did this work so well for me in Scotland? Well, the added swelling to the main edge of the only one helped me slide to the top of the strong terrain, while relief at the tracking edge allowed me to play from all kinds of different places of the club’s face.

Thankfully, the club still has a single wide, which made it much easier to burst the ball from super soft sand in Scotland.
I really never had the problems of getting a lot of sand as I have in the past in Scotland, and I was able to catch the ball on chips like never before there.
For my game, it was a perfect match with the conditions.
end
These two clubs are not additions to my daily golf bag; In fact, I can only Drive k* for my next overseas trip or bandon dunes or another country like him.
But now I have 16 clubs that I like, allowing me to choose the top 14 for whatever challenge the next day will provide. For me, this is not just a worthy investment-is a game that changes the game.
