There are a lot of cool gadgets in the world of golf equipment that don’t always fit wellThe most requested testsORBuyers Guides. You still want to know how it works. In our We Tried it series, we put the equipment to the test and let you know if it works as advertised.
What we tried:
Dunning’s new Jogger. These hybrid pants look like runners in the back, but give off traditional vibes in the front. I am intrigued.
Who tried it:
Connor. Director of Content, resident infamous shoe and pants hater. When you have such candles, it’s best to show them off. That said, I can stand behind a good pair of runners. The Dunning Player Jogger seems, on the surface, to be a good fit.
What’s the problem with the pants?

Everything. Pants are restrictive, often uncomfortable, and make me very hot. You’ll most often find me wearing shorts, not pants, even when it’s below zero. That’s why runners are the perfect middle ground for me. They tend to fit and feel more like shorts, but offer more coverage for those tough days out.
My wife often scolds me because I don’t even have a pair of jeans. Spoiler: If Dunning made jeans that felt like the Jogger, I’d buy them in a heartbeat.
Pants that feel like sweatpants

Because I hate pants, my top priority for pants or joggers is that they don’t feel like pants. It sounds contradictory but the point remains. If (and this is a big one whether) The Jogger doesn’t feel like a stiff, stiff pair of golf pants, I consider that a win.
Fortunately for me and my thunder thighs, The Dunning Player Jogger is about as comfortable as it gets. They fit and feel more like sweatpants than actual pants. But they still look traditional and classy.
Everything, down to the internal drawstring mechanism, makes these pants feel anything but.
The polyester-spandex blend makes these jogger pants very stretchy. Sitting down to get the ball out of the hole after a classic three is stress free. Don’t worry about rips, tears or, worse, crushing the other balls I’m playing with.

I’m also a big fan of how the cuff fits. Because the elastic only goes to the back, the cuffs fit perfectly. Not too tight and not too lost. Plus, the front of the Player Jogger still looks very traditional, making them a jogger for the anti-jogger crowd.
Some other features

Zippered pockets, anyone? Each of the pockets on the Player Jogger features a zipper closure. I love having zippered back pockets, but honestly, the two front pockets would be better without zippers. The chain pulls are also a bit small, making them difficult to hold. A minor quibble, but one that detracts from the overall experience.
If you’re only going to make chains, the chains better be easy to use. One-handed use was more frustrating than it should have been.
The waist belt closure is also a nice touch. Buttons are overrated, snaps are the way to go. Although I can sew on a button, I’d rather not deal with the inevitable button breakage after a diet head or two.
Runner for the anti-run guy

If you hate the look of joggers but hate the feel of pants, the Dunning Player Jogger is for you. If you hate pants but love the feel of sweatpants, the Dunning Player Jogger is for you.
And, if you just want something that looks good, feels good, and is more than just golf course wear, you’ve come to the right place.
I’m not saying the Dunning Player Jogger is my favorite jogger. But it is my pants. And that’s saying a lot from the guy who hates pants.
