As 2025 comes to a close, it gives us here at MyGolfSpy a chance to reflect on all the cool stuff we’ve talked about this year.
Yes, it’s crazy that we call this work. And, yes, we are eternally grateful that you all care enough to read what we write.
This week, I asked the staff to nominate their favorite articles written by other staff members. If you haven’t read them already, there’s no time like the present to dive into these staff favorite stories.
Return of the USGA Golf Ball

Our annual April 1st installment is always a staff favorite. This year’s USGA Golf Ball Buyback article written by the talented and entertaining John Barba was an absolute hoot. So many easter eggs, so many jokes and more Quite reliable.
The End of an Era in Putter Design

Rarely does our CEO step in and put pen to paper, but after witnessing this year’s zero-torque craze, he had to come out of retirement to write this rant. Few articles we’ve written this year have had a greater impact on our ultimate mission to help golfers find joy in the game.
We’re also trying to keep our jobs, so of course we had to “nominate” an item from the boss man. (If you’re reading this, Adam, remember what I got you for Christmas last year.)
5 ways golf is stuck in the past

Yes, we are big advocates for golf to become less traditional and more welcoming. This article from the most hated man on MyGolfSpy is a microcosm of how MyGolfSpy feels about golf as a whole. It is stuck in the past and needs to catch up with the times, so to speak.
The Change in Golf No One Saw Coming

We certainly don’t put out a lot of female-focused golf content, mainly because our audience is nearly 98 percent male. That said, golf wear has seen a dramatic change recently, and Bennett, our head of social, did a great job of highlighting that here.
5 Golf Habits That Should Be Against The Rules

While we’re all for welcoming new people to the game, we’re also drawing a hard line when it comes to course rules and etiquette. These five habits (including leaving bunkers unranked) happen all too often, and we’re on a mission to put an end to them.
The most hated golfers of all time

The “Most Hated Man” on MyGolfSpy is back with another bang. Sean’s pieces always spark debate and this one was no different. While we try to be positive where we can, we wouldn’t be doing our job if we didn’t also mention the bad things in the game.
Mysteries of history: Golf City, Inc. v. Wilson Sporting Goods, et al.

While the grandfather of the staff, John Barba, is best known for his meanderings in golf history. His ongoing “History Mysteries” series is always a favorite staff read. This for a 50-year-old court case is fascinating, to say the least.
I was a non-believer, but after the robot tested the golf balls, I saw the light

After seeing what we’ve seen, it’s impossible to ignore the reality that the golf ball makes a big difference. Year after year, we see it’s probably the most underrated gadget in your bag.
Honorable Mention: Chrome Touring Cats

No one, and I mean no one, in the history of the world has put more effort into writing about pictures of cats on golf balls than Tony Covey. And by the same token, no one has pissed off more readers with a single article than Mr. Covey here.
Yes, this deserves a read (and a comment) when you get a chance. It’s absurd in all the right and wrong ways.
