Hrgovic wants Moses Itauma Fight, says coach Abel Sanchez

Coach Abel Sanchez says Filip Hrgovic is interested in fighting the heavyweight meder Moses Itauma. He mentions that Hrgovic (19-1, 14 COs) will take the rest of 2025, but he is still interested in the fight against young 20-year-old Itauma (13-0, 11 COs).

Cut above the eye

Hrgovic sustained a deep cut above his right eye in his running unanimous decision of 10 round over David Adelye on August 16, and he will need time to heal the injury.

Too many quick coes, too little development

Sanchez says he is not sure if the Queensberry-promoted Moses is Itauma “The good or not” at this stage of his career. He notes that he recorded numerous early knockouts in the first round, and he believes it is not good for his ‘development’. He mentions that Itauma will be tested sooner or later, and it would be better if he walked around good heavyweights ahead of time.

Itauma’s last nine battles

  • 1st round food: 6
  • 2nd seconds cost: 3

If you knock out the opposition, it quickly indicates that Itauma is not connected to the right fighters as he had to be strengthened a long time ago. Although he is 20, he looks closer to 28. Apparently itauma looks closer to 30 than 21. He should have already been linked to contenders. There is no real development going on when he quickly knocks fighters.

What can go is what itauma looked like in its last competitive battle in the amateurs Stylianos roulias. In the competition, Moses seems to be stressed with the way he showed him by aggressive pressure fighter Roulias, who showed no fear of him, and was only focused on the landing as hard as he could, if he were to outline him. The way itauma moved and held on showed that he was not comfortable with an opponent fighting for a change.

Is Moses Itauma really “the stuff”?

“Of course we will consider it. He is a rising star, and he has to take a few steps to get to the championship. Who knows whether he is the stuff or not. Philip would love to have a battle with him. I discussed it with him and he would like to have a struggle with him, ‘said coach Abel Sanchez Box news About Filip Hrgovic is interested in the fight against Moses Itauma.

Interestingly, Moses was combined in the same way as his older brother, Karol itaumawith him exclusively against fighters with lower levels. Like Moses, Karol achieved very fast knockouts in his first nine fights.

Lessons from Karol Itauma’s fall

When Karol Itauma acted against a solid travel man, Ezequiel osvaldo Maderna, who could take his punch, was knocked out in the fifth round on January 28, 2023. It was the same identical game Moses did, and Karol looked like gold until he threw in a half -decent fighter.

“I’d rather let him go three rounds rather than strike someone in the first one because that really say nothing about his development, ” Sanchez said about Itauma. “He will be tested in the future, and it will be nice to see how he is being tested along the way.”

The Right Test: Frank Sanchez

The perfect opponent for Itauma to get experience would have been Frank Sanchez because it is a struggle he could have taken in an IBF title -Liminator to determine an obligation for the undisputed champion Oleksandr utility.

Itauma claims Sanchez was not one of the names offered to him. He does not say why he does not insist on fighting against him, because it would have been the logical attack if he wanted to keep improving. Itauma doesn’t get much out of the gun by these fighters:

  • Dillian Whyte: 37
  • Mariusz Wach: 45
  • Mike Balogun: 41
  • Dan Garber: 40
