This exercise can help. When you are in the range, flip your lid back. As you swing on the top, you feel the left lip of your lid (side opposite your target) dip slightly below the right. When you do it, your front shoulder will automatically bypass down to the ground than the spine shoulder – this is the position you need to make a hard, downstream stroke. Instead of worrying about your swing, just think about that left side of your lip. If they dive on top, you are strong.
The same can be done when practicing shots with your driver. Here, you want to feel that the right side of the lip is lower than the left, giving you a powerful angle, up of the attack. It sounds funny, but taking your lip to the right place for each club at the right point approximates your shoulders both at the top and influence as from magic. The result: Bum!
