How much each player has made

With the final event in 2024, a familiar story is emerging.

An amateur is in contention to win again on the PGA Tour.

This year has been the “Year of the Amateur” of sorts on golf’s top circuit, where Nick Dunlap became the first amateur in 33 years to win on the American Express PGA Tour in January. Dunlap turned pro and eventually won again in July, but by then, Luke Clanton was already making a name for himself.

The Florida State junior finished in the top 10 in back-to-back starts in July, the first amateur to do so in 66 years.

With the non-professionals struggling so often this season, it leads to a very interesting conundrum: they are unable to get any prizes.

When Dunlap won again, he had turned pro, so he was able to cash the winner’s check, but Clanton, who is competing once again this week at the RSM Classic in Georgia, is still competing for the Seminoles and so is playing for free.

“I played great, I just made some really dumb mistakes coming down the course,” Clanton said after his third-round 68 that left him just three off the lead. “I think it’s just from experience and kind of feeling that pressure again. I think to get myself another opportunity here to win again is great.”

Regardless of where he finishes on Sunday, he will take home the same share of the salary as for all of his previous starts: $0.

With that, below is the full payout breakdown for this week RSM Classic. The total purse is $7.2 million.
