The average supervisor earns much more than the average US worker.

Professionals that Maintenance of golf courses earn nowhere near as much money as professionals that Play those courses to live. But their salaries are relatively strong and increasing.
The news comes from the latest biennial compensation report and benefits from the American Golf Course Supervisors Association (GCSAA), which revealed that the average annual salary for Golf Course Supervisors is up to $ 121,238. This figure is an increase of 10.6% above the average salary of the profession in 2023, exceeding the national average, which, according to the US Labor Bureau, increased 8.1% over the last two years. Also almost double the annual salary of the average US worker, which is just over $ 66,000, data from the Social Insurance Administration show.
The report shows a similar trend for assistants of supervisors and equipment managers. The supervisor’s assistant saw their income climb 10.5% to $ 62,184 while equipment managers on average enjoyed a 12.5% collision to $ 68,154.
Findings draw an online questionnaire, which was completed with just over 3,000 Gcasa members.
Rhett Evans, GCSAA’s CEO, said the numbers reflect a wider recognition of the important role played by supervisors and their teams in the industry.
“Owners of the Golf Course are increasingly understanding this and are investing in them accordingly,” Evans said.
As in other industries, education and experience often correspond to income. The report revealed, for example, that certified supervisors-who had strengthened their skills and knowledge through classroom study and ground training-enjoined greater financial benefits than their non-certified counterparts for the same time period, with average salaries increased to $ 138,303.
The report also sketches a portrait of today’s supervisor and a sketch of their duties. The average age of a supervisor is 47.1, with an average of 15.9 years of experience in industry. And their jobs include more than just growing and mourning the grass. According to the report, 39 percent of their time are spent on maintenance, with most of their other hours dedicated to approximately to business tasks and staff management.
Attracting this staff can be a challenge. Like many industries, Golf faces a lack of work, especially at the entry level – a long problem that has been intensified by factors ranging from changes in immigration policy to competition from other sectors. Part of the GCSAA mission is to support the supervisors and their teams as they highlight opportunities within trade.
