Juventus have admitted their X social media account was hacked on Monday evening, after a post announced they had signed Real Madrid star Arda Guler.
The club’s English X account surprisingly posted a picture of Guler on Monday with the caption: “Welcome to JuventusArda Guler Soccer’s rising star is now part of the Juventus family.” And while many fans saw it for what it was – a hoax – it left many incredibly confused as to how the incident would play out.
In a statement released shortly afterwards on their Italian social media accounts, Juventus moved to clarify the situation, writing: “Our Juventus English account has been hacked. Please ignore the false information being posted on this account.”
Guler has been in the books a Real Madrid for just over a year, having joined during the 2023 summer transfer window for an initial fee of €20 million, but has struggled for playing time at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Turkish star has managed just seven starts in all competitions in his first year at Madrid.
This lack of playing time has seen Guler’s name come up regularly transfer gossip columns recently, with the likes of Liverpool i Tottenham Hotspur both were previously linked with a move for the talented youngster.
Juventus actually already have a Turkish wonderkid on their books at the moment. The young people Kenan Yildiz he was entrusted with the famous number ten shirt ahead of the 2024/25 campaign and has become a key player under new boss Thiago Motta. He has already started nine games in all competitions this season, two more than Guler has started in his entire Madrid career so far.
