Hjtep to honor Chrissie Evert in New York Gala on May 12

The Hall of Fame Chrissie evert Returns to New York City as a bright star next month.

The six-time US Open Evert Evert champion will be honored in the 53rd annual Harlem Junior Tennis Program & Gala Set Education for May 12 at Ballroom Ziegfeld in New York City.

Patrick MCineroe It will create gala studied with stars that celebrate the achievements of nearly 1,000 young people who benefit from tennis and HJTEP educational programs each year. Both a direct and silent auction will collect critical funds needed to support these programs.

Famous Tennis Hall Chris evert Will be honored with the Shining Star Award, while Morgan Stanley will receive the Hjtep Corporate Award. The evening will also show a special show from the Broadway star, Norm Lewis, who will sing “Home” by WIZ and the classic “Dreamndra” by Man of La Mancha. Hjtep Alum Vashni Korin will show how her time in Hjtep helped form her way to become a winning awards documentary.

“Hjtep’s success for more than half a century would not be possible without the selfless commitment of people like Chrissie and corporations like Morgan Stanley, who have supported our mission and helped us grow,” he said Executive Director of Hjtep Katrina Adams. “We look forward to using this extraordinary event to thank our friends and supporters, present them with many young people who directly benefit from our programs and collect important funds to continue our mission.”

The Shining Star Award Honor Evert for its steadfast dedication and the transformative impact on Hjtep. As chairman of the Usta Foundation, it has a long time chapters, including Hjtep. An icon of tennis, transmitter, philanthropist and businessman, Evert captured 18 Grand Slam titles – including a record seven open French crowns. After retirement, she has become a respected ESPN analyst, founded the Evert Tennis Academy and has actively protected for cancer awareness and the empowerment of young people.

The Hjtep Corporate Award recognizes Morgan Stanley for his strong commitment to tennis through community initiatives, sponsorships and players’ partnerships. As a global financial leader, the firm supports major tennis events and developing talent while promoting involvement and access to sports. For the last two years, in the week leading to US Open, Morgan Stanley has partner with the WTA Foundation to host the community community initiative “Come Play by Morgan Stanley” for Hjtep. This particular event contains a clinic of a Hjtep staff coach, and a small clinic led by Judy Murray and current WTA players. The program uses tennis to positively influence communities by encouraging young people of all ages and skills, focusing on girls, to lead healthy and productive lives inside and outside the court.
