Historic feat! Babar Azam joins the prestigious club along with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma

Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam reached a major milestone in international cricket and the legendary Indian Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma on this elite list. This is a great achievement for Babar who is seen as one of the best batsmen Pakistan has ever produced.

Babar achieved this feat during the first trial series between South Africa and Pakistan at Centurion. He came to bat at No. 3 instead of his usual No. 4 slot in Test cricket.

Babar Azam became the third player to reach this milestone

During the match, Babar Azam completed 4000 runs in Test cricket. He achieved this success in the first ball of the match. Babar came into bat after the fall of Pakistan captain Shan Masood.

He got a soft bouncer on the pads first and he slotted it comfortably over square leg for a four. It was a gift for the former Pakistan captain and he took full advantage of it by slotting the ball over the boundary.

Babar became the third player in the history of the game to score more than 4000 runs in all formats – Tests, ODIs and T20Is. India’s Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the only other players to reach this milestone earlier.

Babar Azam has already scored 4223 runs in T20Is and close to 6000 runs in ODI cricket. After 4000 runs in Tests, he now joins the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the elite list.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the other two players

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the first two players to score more than 4000 runs in all formats of the game. Both of them are still active players in Tests and ODIs but have retired from the T20I format after the conclusion of T20 World Cup 2024.

Kohli has scored over 9000 runs in Tests and nearly 14000 runs in ODIs. He averaged 48.69 with 4188 runs in T20Is. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has nearly 11000 runs in ODIs and has scored 4289 runs in Tests. The Indian skipper finished as the highest run-scorer in T20Is when he retired with 4,231 runs to his name.

Babar Azam was dismissed cheaply

Meanwhile, Babar Azam might have scored a big hit but it wasn’t a great day for him with the bat. After hitting a boundary in his first ball, he failed to add more runs to his tally and was dismissed after a few balls.

The 30-year-old player was dismissed for only 4 out of 11 balls. Babar pushed with a wide delivery that went away and edged out. The ball is gone Aiden Markram slip caught whose dog.

Babar was absolutely gutted in his shot selection. It was his indecisive impulse as he was caught in two minds. His wicket meant that his poor form continued in Test cricket. It was his comeback game after being dropped from the home Test series against England.
