Ryan Garcia’s father, Henry Garcia, doubts whether Devin Haney will do this on May 2 in New York at the Fatal Fury Times Square event.
Punch resistance
Henry feels that Haney’s “Chin” failed in his last fight against Ryan last April, and he thinks it is a possibility that this could happen again if he faces former WBC and WBA lights of welterweight champion Ramirez (29-2, 18 COs) in their 12-round co-founded bowling.
Despite the bad blood they have with Devin about his lawsuit, Henry says he has “hoped” that he made “important changes” to his game for the Ramirez fight. May 2 is a mini tournament, and Haney must encounter his fight against Ryan in October if he wins his fight against Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero on the map.
Even if Haney does make changes to his game, his punching resistance will still be a constant problem for him, and it could fail him against Ramirez. This man is not the largest puncher in the world, but he has worked on his power play, knowing how vulnerable Haney is above.
“If he eliminates Ramirez, the possibility is that he will survive, but his chin was tested and you saw the results,” Henry Garcia said Fight Hub TVTalk about Devin Haney’s fight against Jose Ramirez on May 2 at Times Square in New York.
It doesn’t look good for Haney to get through the Ramirez fight without being cracked. He had a year off to recover from his grueling collision against Ryan, but it may not be enough time.
Chin doubts
“I’ve always seen Haney as a good fighter, but I always knew about the amateur days that he was struggling with Ryan,” Henry says. “So, if someone hits him, there may be the same results. Let’s hope he made some important changes, because Ramirez, what I hear is ready. He is good to go, and he is no Pushover just as Duarte was not for Ryan. Someone you need to stay focused on.
“We do know that it’s scheduled for October,” Henry Garcia said about the re -broadcast between Ryan Garcia and Haney.
