Hilton Cartwright gives Phillips Hughes a comeback after being stretched off the pitch in the BBL.


Melbourne Stars batsman Hilton Cartwright suffered a career-ending injury during their ongoing Big Major League (BBL 2024-25) game against Perth Scorchers. The match between the two teams is played at the Perth Stadium in Perth.

In what will be a huge blow for the Melbourne Stars, Hilton Cartwright suffered a major injury in the first game of the Big Bash League. It happened during the second over of the game when the batsman was trying to save a boundary and was injured.

On the third ball of the 13th over, Adam Milne delivered a full to Cooper Connolly as he edged towards the gap. Hilton Cartwright sprinted from the sweeper’s cover to his left and dived to try and pull the ball back. But he pushed the ball into the cushions and immediately went down.

Cartwright landed badly on his left shoulder, injuring his left shoulder and also slightly damaging his neck. Physiologists immediately rushed to attend to the batter and a stretcher was also brought out to carry him off the field.

Hilton Cartwright also wore a necklace around her neck. Before taking it in a mobile cart. Thanks to his throne, he was conscious and talking even while sleeping with his eyes closed. He was slowly carried away and taken to the hospital.

Following his injury, the Melbourne Stars provided an official update on the batter, claiming he had been taken to hospital for scans on his neck. The franchise also added that they will soon provide an update on the batter.

A statement from the franchise read: “Hilton was taken to the hospital for a neck scan. We will update everyone as we learn more.”

Hilton Cartwright did not have a great outing with the bat as he managed just 18 runs with the bat. He came to bat in the 5th and looked scratchy. Cartwright faced 17 balls during his time at the crease and hit only four in his innings.

With the hitting he’s been dealing with, it looks like it’s curtains for him in this edition of the Major League Baseball. The Melbourne Stars would be hoping that he regains his fitness and returns to the team by the second half of the ongoing tournament.
