Strong performances in Jones’ absence factored into the decision

During the tour of Namibia, Team USA thrived without Jones, going undefeated in four ODI games. Although he was later recalled for the T20I series, thanks to his remarkable performance in the CPL final, Jones struggled during the Nepal T20I series last week, raising the possibility that his place in the T20I squad could also be under threat.
