“Everyone at Sydney Thunder was devastated to learn of Ash’s knee injury which ruled him out of BBL 15 and we wish him well in his recovery,“Copeland said in a brief press release. He also accepted the balance of a strong team with a roster that includes several spinners and outfielders, giving him confidence in the season starting Dec. 16.

Ashwin voices his frustration after the failure
Sharing the news with fans, Ashwin expressed his deep disappointment in a personal statement. “I miss BBL. Now my focus is restored and strongerAshwin thanked the Lightning and his supporters for the warm welcome.
He noted that the club management, especially Copeland, made him feel part of the team from the first conversation. Ashwin also hoped to be around the group later in the season when he aims to participate in a toy capacity with teammates and players if his rehabilitation and travel plans permit. He emphasized his intention to follow and cheer on both Sydney Thunder teams throughout the season, while prioritizing his health to contribute from the field.
The knee injury and surgery marked a significant setback for Ashwin to move into T20 leagues outside India, where retired internationals like him get opportunities. His comeback will be closely watched by cricket followers worldwide.
