Aldrich Potgieter has made a habit of joining Air Rarified early in his golf career.

The wild 20-year-old South African became the second-youngest winner of the 2022 Amateur Championship (aged 17), and last year he broke Jason Day’s mark as the youngest player ever to win on the Korn Ferry Tour (19 years, 4 months and 11 days).

So it was no surprise that Potgieter put himself in position this week to become the 10th player since 1970 to win on the PGA Tour before turning 21. This list includes Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Seve Ballesteros and Jordan Spieth.

After a third-round 67 at the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif., Potgieter found himself teeing off in the final group Saturday with a chance to make more history.

“At the top of my head, it’s just a godsend,” Potgieter said Friday when asked about his early career success. “I’ve definitely been given a talent, and I’ve worked hard my whole life to be here.

“It’s just obviously just from him and to be in this position and compete at this level, it’s great.”

Here’s the full breakdown of this open week’s Farmers Insurance pay. The total purse is $9.3 million.
