With wet and windy conditions all weekend in San Antonio, the PGA Tour’s final pre-Masters tournament had players battling the elements before heading to Augusta, Georgia.
Robert MacIntyre and Ludvig Åberg entered Sunday’s Valero Texas Open at the top of the leaderboard, but Matt Wallace, JJ SpaunAndrew Putnam and others quickly clogged the leaderboard TPC San Antonio.
Wallace shot a final-round 68 to take the clubhouse lead at 16-under par, but then had to hang around for two hours to see if that would be good enough for his first PGA Tour win since the 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship.
But Spaun birdied the par-3 16th and then bogeyed the short par-4 17th to get to 17 under and take the clubhouse lead. Spaun needed to complete his third round to start Sunday and played the final 27 holes 9-under to take the lead. He then watched as Michael Kim, Putnam and MacIntyre failed to match his tally, giving him his third career win and second Valero Texas Open win.
With the win, Spaun took home a $1.764 million winner’s check. Here’s how much everyone earned this week in San Antonio.
