No rift yet
Hearn says that He hopes Stevenson will stay with him for the rest of his career, But he is not sure what the future holds. If Shakur loses against Zepeda (33-0, 27 COs) this summer, Hearn may be glad that his two-fold contract is being done so that he can wash his hands of him and focus on talented opposition that is entertaining to watch.
Stevenson’s glass hands, poor power and defensive fighting style make it difficult to see how he thrives on the top level at 135 against Zepeda or any of the fighters.
Dan Rafael reported on X yesterday that Shakur chose his contract with two struggles after one fight, and that Lou Dibella would use his promoter for his fight against Zepeda on July 12. It was a big surprise, because Shakur just fought the electrician Josh Padley and it seems he was on good foot with Hearn.
“You read Twitter. We have a two-fold agreement with Shakur Stevenson and Turki Alalshikh. I was at Turki Alalshikh for a few hours. That’s it, ‘promoter Eddie Hearn told Fight Hub TV When asked about the reports of Shakur Stevenson leaving the match room to fight under another promoter. promoter for his 12th defense against William Zepeda in New York.
“After the Zepeda battle, I don’t know what’s going to happen. Hopefully we have the rest of his career with us, but I can’t say it categorically. So, yes, I agreed to a two-fold agreement with Shakur Stevenson, Turki Alalshikh, and it is July 12, our role against Zepeda, and we will see what happens. Shakur left the match room after one fight with Josh Padley.
He has only fought one good fighter since moving to the lightweight section, Edwin de Los Santos, and he lost to him near him. All the popularity of Shakur sprout what he did at 130 and 126, where he beat faded veterans Jamel Herring and Oscar Valdez. All other victories of Stevenson came against additional contenders.
