Hearing calls Canelo vs. Crawford a “freak fight” – is he right?

Eddie Hearn, the head of Matchroom chief, has the Canelo Alvarez match against Terence Crawford as a “Freak Fight,” considered it as just for “a lot of money” when they may meet in September.

Hearn says that Crawford, 37, doesn’t even have to prove himself at 168 because he just goes up for one “money” match against the WBA, WBC and WBO super-middle weight champion Canelo (62-2-2, 39 COs).

Crawford skips the line over

In other words, it is good for Crawford to skip the rope before the contenders who worked hard for the opportunity to challenge a world title. Is it fair? No.

This is quite 100% unfair, and it is worrying that another 154 pound has the opportunity to move two weight classes to challenge Canelo for his titles rather than one of the more meritorious contenders.

Box needs a commissioner

As Tim Bradley says, boxing needs a commissioner to oversee the sport to create rules against it lineage To get undeserved opportunities to challenge world titles in weight classes in which they have never competed.

If there was a commissioner in charge of the sport, they would not allow Crawford to move to 168 to fight for world titles unless he earned it by beating the leading contenders in front of him.

Hearn’s Defens “Freak Fight”

“No, because it’s a frantic fight. His career is not on his way to 168 pounds. This is a one -time freak fight for a lot of money. That’s what it is, ”Eddie Hearn said Battle hype When asked to respond to critics who say Terence Crawford must first test himself against one of the top superimers before challenging Canelo Alvarez for his three titles at 168.

“After that fight, he’s probably going to move back to 154. Don’t forget, believe he struggled a bit against (Israil) Madrimov. He struggled because Madrimov is a good fighter. He is (Crawford) not a big 154 pounds, and don’t forget. He came from 147, and before that he was at 140. Before that he was at 135.

“To move from 135 to 168 and win the United World title. This would apply as one of the greatest victories of all time, but you know Bud. He is ready for the challenge. I think it makes him the best fighter of our generation if he moves up and beats Canelo Alvarez on 168.

I do not agree with Hearn about Crawford who does not need to earn the fight against Canelo by fighting first at 168. He should have to earn it, because how is it fair for contenders such as Christian Mbilli, Diego Pacheco and Caleb plant?

It makes a joke of the sport to see how this line jump is going on. It is difficult to see box as an actual sport when you see fighters allowed to move two weight classes and get a world title shoot immediately.

Crawford’s resume

“He is a world champion in four divisions,” Hearn said of Crawford. “He is an undisputed at 140 and 147. I think his victories at 140 were not as strong as. I mean, he beat everyone what he had to. The Errol Spence victory of course. Then, move to 154. Madrimov is a very good fighter. You can always question people’s resumes, but Terence is one of the biggest fighters of all time. ”

Crawford’s resume at 147 and 140 was weak as water, which consisted of victories against this flawed bunch:

Errol Spence
Jose Benavidez Jr.
David Avanesyan
Jeff Horn
Shawn Porter
Kell brook
Amir Khan
Egidijus Cavaliauskas
Julius Indongo
Felix Diaz
John Molina Jr.
Viktor postol
Henry Lundy
Derry Jean
Thomas Dorme

Porter, Brook, Khan and Spence were all over the hill by the time Crawford fought against them. They were not nearly what they were in the prime of their careers. The only one at the elite level of that group was Spence, and he was not the same fighter after 2018.

It was the last year of the vintage, prime version of Spence. Crawford got the ruined version of Spence after his car accident, two years from the ring, and weight drained.

“He (Turki al-Sheikh) has a very high success rate. So, you have to think there is a very good chance that that battle (Canelo vs. Crawford) will take place. I think this is a very plot struggle between two generation big ones. I think it’s very difficult for Bud to move so high in weight, but if anyone can do it, it might be him, ”Hearn said.

Canelo too much at 168

Crawford cannot move 14 pounds of 154 to defeat Canelo on 168. It’s not going to happen. Crawford will be 38 in September, and he is not Floyd Mayweather Jr., and even if he was, he would still be out of his league, because Canelo is no longer 22 years old and will not be at 152 fights. That’s how old Canelo was when Mayweather fought him against a catching weight of 152.

“His movement and IQ are unmatched, but it’s difficult when you face Canelo Alvarez above. It’s not just 168. At night it is probably 180, 185. It’s going to be a big task, “Hearn said of what Crawford opposes.
