Southern California Tien He is turning his heads, and Andre Agassi is one of his youngest admirers. After reaching the Beijing final, Southpaw Tien has a rocket at number 38 in the world – from no. 121 in Australian Open this January.
Speaking by Hong Kong, Agassi told AFP He Tien “has learned the game phenomenal. He is too talented, not only with his game, but with his mind.”
The eight-big champion he accepted the physical restrictions of the young man-“in size and strength”-but added, “when I really look at it … he does everything.”
Agassi also expressed confidence in Tien’s mental determination: “Mentally he has absolutely what he needs.”
Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev, who spent Tien in Shanghai, was also full of praise for the hometown of Southern California recently.
“In my opinion he is an incredible player because he does not have an excellent service and the service is so important in tennis,” Medvedev said. “Without the service, he is 19 years old and 30 something in the world and is growing alone. In my opinion he is such a good tennisist.
“He feels the game so well. There are so many boys now that they just hit hard with every ball they have, and they have an amazing service that allows them to stay in the tennis match. He does not have it, and he manages to play so well without him.”
