The New York State Athletic Commission is facing the events that were presented during the ninth round of last Saturday night’s battle between WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach in Brooklyn, New York.
Technical error?
According to a commission spokesman, they were unable to review the ninth round incident because they had ‘technical problems’ with the repetition. It couldn’t have come to battle at a worse time. It happens in that round, which saved the tank to lose the battle, and it may have cost Roach millions.
They look at the point in the ninth where Tank Davis (30-0-1, 28 COs) voluntarily took a knee after being hit hard with a right hand and a left stitch (25-1-2, 10 COs).
“During the round in question, after the commission’s request for the repetition video, there was a technical issue that prevented the commission from receiving it within the assigned time for review. It saved Tank Davis to lose the attack, but it also led to Willis being widely criticized by fans. Now the commission can reverse its error if they choose to decide it a Knockdown.
