England captain Harry Kane has confirmed he has no plans to retire after the 2026 World Cup, admitting he is performing at his “top” level.
Interim manager Lee Carsley enjoyed a strong finish to his spell with the Three Lions senior side, recording wins over Greece and the Republic of Ireland during the November international break. His most recent win, during which five different England players etched their name on the score sheet, saw Kane open proceedings from the penalty spot.
The Bayern Munich star remains a strong presence in the England midfield, even revealing his feelings on the spate of late departures in Carsley’s squad.
It is clear that he will be a key figure for England 2026 World Cup effort, but Kane also hopes to play long after the tournament.
“I think sometimes there’s a perception when you get to your 30s that you’re coming to an end,” he said. Sky Sports. “But for me personally I’m performing at the highest level I’ve ever done and I feel as good as I’ve ever felt.
“It’s about seizing the moment. I don’t like to look too far ahead in my career, I never have. The World Cup will be exciting, in America it will be an incredible occasion. Ultimately, it’s about trying. for win it (the World Cup), and as always, look at where you are and what you need to do to improve and it will be no different in a couple of years.”
England’s success over the last international break saw them through win promotion to League A of the UEFA Nations League after finishing top of their group.
