Haney’s victim does not work with fans who see him as someone who cannot accept his loss. They see him as a spoiled millionaire and try to create a narrative of a victim from his fight with Kingry ten months ago. It would play better if Haney admits that he was not good enough and could not handle the power of Garcia’s left brackets.
For Devin to still make the events of that struggle disappear, he indicates that he cannot accept his loss of Ryan. The memories of what happened to Dev that night haunt him.
