Devin Haney told Richardson Hitchins that he looked “Cooked” On the weigh-in today for his defense of the IBF Light Welterweight title against George Kambosos, and recommended that he come to 147.
Hitchins (19-0, 7 COs) appear drained, arrive at 140, and he still has the IBF’s 10 pound rehydration to work with for Saturday’s head liner on Dazn in the Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York.
Haney suggests a 147 -pound move
Haney’s remark about Hitchinson who has to move to 147 can be interpreted to mean fighting against him. Devin is now needy for an opponent after losing two mega paid against Theofimo Lopez and Ryan Garcia.
Promoter Eddie Hearn said today that Haney can go to one of the two titles that will be evacuated by United Welterweight Champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. He said Haney could fight against the winner of the Lewis Crocker against Paddy Donovan Rematch or face Shakhram Giyasov. These are not the kind of battles Haney hoped to get.
“Africa, come to 147. You look cooked,” said Haney to XTalk about Richardson Hitchins.
Devin moved up to Welterweight last month for his 145 -pound catching weight against Jose Ramirez on May 2 at Times Square in New York. However, he has not yet fought at the full welterweight boundary and has not yet faced a welterweight opponent. Ramirez was a career -long mild welter weight.
“He was fired. Both teams are fired. You’re going to get an incredible night on Dazn tomorrow night, ‘promoter Eddie Hearn said Dazn boxTalk about Richardson Hitchins against George Kambosos jr. ‘You’re going to fight a very high level, a beautiful crossroads.
If Kambosos (22-3, 10 COs) pull out the dismay on Saturday night, Hitchins can just as well take Haney’s advice and go up to 147. Maybe he might be interested in fighting him if he didn’t lose too badly with ‘the Emperor’ Kambosos.
“I don’t think he is doing (watch out for Kambosos). It’s like the history that repeats itself this week. I think Richardson is kind,” says Hearn. “He is kind and chilled, but the training team yesterday. It’s fiery. ‘
Hitchins’ drained appearance concerns
As drained as hitchins look today, it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t look over Kambosos. If he is just exhausted as he looks, he will be enough to lose the battle, and he will be forced to move up. He probably won’t. Hitchins are too proud to run away from a loss of Kambosos without avenge the defeat. It is a voluntary defense for Hitchins. There is, of course, a rematch clause.
“There are a lot of emotions out there, and that’s what George wants,” Hearn says. “He wants Richardson to stand and fight, and he’s under a little pressure to entertain, to make the statement. It is dangerous in itself. George is not a top -15 -man. He is a former undisputed champion, and he is a very good fighter. He is a very determined, smart man. “
Hitchins did not summarize today as he was yesterday when Kambosos pushed him when he waved the right or false $ 50,000 in his face, and he dared to bet on the outcome. He does not like to be pushed by Kambosos. Today it was pretty soft, without losing Hitchins’ part.
“He will want Richardson to fight, and I think he will have an opportunity to look good tomorrow night, but he also has the possibility of defeat. I know that Richardson is the favorite, but it’s a difficult challenge for him. It can really establish itself as a world -class name in the sport, ‘says Hearn.
Establishment of hitchins as world class
Beating Kambosos will not settle. ‘The Emperor’ comes in this battle with a 2-3 record, which many people believe should really be 1-4 because of Kambosos’ dubious victory over Maxi Hughes. Take away the victory, his record is 1-4 in his last five battles. For Hitchins to establish himself, he must beat these fighters:
– Gary Antuanne Russell
– Keyshawn Davis
– Subriel Matias
– Theofimo Lopez
– Arnold Barboza Jr.
