Devin Haney reacts negatively to formerly undisputed light welterweight champion Josh Taylorโs loss of Ekow Essuman, mocked him on social media and call him a โs **** boyโ and show a trash can have emoji. Taylor (19-3, 12 COs) has lost his third straight fight since 2023.
Last Saturday night, Taylor lost a unanimous 12-round decision to Essuman (22-1, 8 COs) in front of his hometown in SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. The scores were 116-112, 116-113 and 116-113.
There was talk of Haney and Taylor, but nothing ever came. Haneyโs pivot of Josh after his loss indicates that he still has bad blood.
Devin Haneyโs insult
โWow, Josh Taylor .. S **** Boy โ Devin Haney tells XRespond to Josh Taylorโs actions against Ekow Essuman last Saturday night in Glasgow.
Former two divisions world champion Haney (32-0, 15 COs), beat Jose Ramirez on May 2 at Times Square in New York. Haney received wide criticism from fans for making a boring effort, tried to hit the ring all night, trying to hit.
Fans on social media have fallen Haney and said he was โafraidโ to be hit by the faded former Unified Light Welterweight champion. They felt that Devin was just a shell of what he was before his loss of Ryan Garcia, and that he was now permanently destroyed. The consensus is that Haney was never so good to begin with.
Taylor decided Ramirez with a 12-round decided in 2021 to win the undisputed 140-pound championship.
Taylor, 34, was the favorite who went to battle in his debut at 147. It is thought that he would deal with the tough but limited essuman without too many problems, but he did not have the engine in the second half to win. That was the difference in the fight. Taylor was technically better, but Essuman had the better guest tank.
Haneyโs next battle
Haney does not have an opponent set up for his next fight. In the Times Square meeting, it was spoken that Devin would fight against Ryan Garcia in October. It now seems to be off, given Ryanโs loss of Rolando โRollyโ Romero on the 2nd map of May 2 and Haneyโs shy, Jab-heavy performance against Ramirez.
