Haney might try to get disqualified

Brian Norman Sr. predicts that Devin Haney will be “beaten” no matter what he tries against WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. on November 22.

He says that Haney (32-0, 16 KOs) will not be able to take what Norman Jr’s (28-0, 22 KOs) will dish out in their co-fight at the ANB Arena in Riyadh. Norman Sr. says Haney can choose to be “disqualified” to take the easy way out, like a sneak.

It’s a strategy some fighters follow when they get the living daylights beaten out of them. They are deliberately disqualified, and then muddy the water by blaming the referee for unfairly stopping the fight, turned it into a conspiracy.

No way out for Haney

“He’s going to hit him anyway, but Devin’s not going to take what he’s going to give him,” Brian Norman Sr. said MillCity Boxing about how Devin Haney will not be able to take the punishment that WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. will dish out on November 22nd.

Norman Sr. believe there is nothing Haney can do to avoid what will happen to him in this fight. Running around the ring, like he did against Jose Ramirez, is going to work on November 22nd. He states that Brian Jr. is the larger fighter with the longer range.

So, if Haney tried to knock him down from the outside, he was going to get cut up with that strategy. In other words, Devin has no choice but to stand and fight Norman Jr. and hope for the best.

Can Devin pull a Sneaky DQ?

“That’s why I try find out if he is going to try to get disqualified. All that runs. Brian is not small. His fans think he’s a master class boxer, and when you’re a master class, you’re almost a perfectionist,” Norman Sr. said of Haney’s fans who believe he is the picture of perfection.

Brian Sr. not saying how Haney would try to get disqualified. The only thing he can do to get DQ’d is by over-clinching and refusing to let go. However, this is not something that will lead to Haney being disqualified. If the referee is a quality one, he will deduct points from him if he chooses to hold as much as he did against Ryan Garcia. He stood and looked at all the holds by Haney. That strategy saved him from being knocked out by Ryan.

Haney’s Size Advantage Away

“It’s as basic as hell. You’re in there with a little ** guy, and you’re beating the hell out of him from a distance,” Norman Sr. says. about Haney’s not technically brilliant. He was just bigger than his opponents. I’m glad Devin Haney feels confident.”

When Haney fought at 135 and 140, he was the bigger fighter than his opponents. In his last fight against Jose Ramirez on May 2, 2025, he did not have the size advantage. He won that fight because former WBC and WBO light welterweight champion Ramirez (33) was painfully slow. Ramirez also fought like he had no ambition and just came for the payday.
