Haney meets Turki Al-Shiekh: Riyadh Season fight possible

Today, Turki Al-Shiekh posted a photo of him standing with Devin Haney and his father, Bill Haney, at their meeting. Haney meets with Turki to discuss the possibility of him fighting on one of his Riyadh season cards.

Devin (31-0, 15 KOs) says he has already received an offer from BLK Prime to fight in March, but he wants to see what Turki has in store for him. It’s unclear what kind of money Haney expects to get for what will likely be a rebound fight to help him regain his confidence after his loss to Ryan Garcia.

“even playing field”

During an interview with the press today in London, Haney talked about wanting to “fight the best” and said he just wants a “level playing field.” He claims he is going to “clean up the sport”. Much of the focus of Devin’s interview was on him trying to whitewash his loss to Ryan, the blame for being “cheated” by him.

Well, if Turki offers Haney an opponent with some pop in his punches for his next Riyadh Season card, the Ryan Garcia rematch is going to go up in smoke and be about as worthless as the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua ‘Battle of The Losers’ ‘ fight. Ryan Garcia did a number on Haney, clocking him last April and beating the living daylights out of him for 12 rounds.

Everything will be fine if Turki makes Devin an offer tomato can with no power and only a few marbles running around in his head. The kind of guy who can beat Haney, but anyone else would put him in danger of getting blown out again.

“Just because I got cheated in a fight doesn’t mean I’m going to change my tune. I still feel the same. I still feel like I’m the best fighter in the world,” Devin Haney told the media Friday in London, trying to pump himself up by hijacking rather than artificially fighting. “I think on a level playing field I can beat all these guys.

“I don’t have any news about my next opponent yet. We looked at a few guys, but His Excellency (Turki Al-Shiekh) called me for a meeting with him. That’s why I’m here with him. We will see. Hopefully we can get something.

“It is a possibility. BLK Prime has an opportunity for me in March. They offered me something, but now His Excellency has called a meeting for me to fight. So, we’ll see if we can iron something out while I’m here,” Haney said.

Looking for an easy battle?

If Turki wants Haney to fight a live body on one of his Riyadh cards, he will sink the rematch with Garcia into the mud. Haney will lose, and his career will go up in smoke. Haney is unable to beat top level fighters at 135, 140 or 147.

You put him in against top fighters from any of those weight classes, and he will lose. I mean, real top fighters, not George Kambosos or Regis Prograis. I’m talking about quality fighters like Gervonta Davis, Jaron Ennis, Richardson Hitchins, Alberto Puello and Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela.

Devin is still trying to use Ryan’s positive test for trace levels of Ostarine as the reason for his loss last April, but fans aren’t buying it. They saw Haney get beat, and they don’t buy his Ostarine excuse.

They saw him get hit with left hooks all night and was saved by the referee in the seventh with his timely takedown of Garcia for the break. The point deduction gave no advance warning to Ryan.
