International athletes mingled with Brits in Cardiff on 24th August with PBs galore, as well as news from the Antrim Coast Half.
Bute Park was at its scenic best as the series drew to a close and saw Adidas-sponsored Baldwin Magnusson win the 5km in 13:47.
The Iceland-born 25-year-old, who won a European under-23 5000m bronze medal in 2021, won by one second from Jack Kavanagh and Matthew Ramsden.
Magnusson’s time was the best off the course, 13:20.34, set in Spain in April, but was enough to hold off his rivals after the trio withdrew.
Holland Sports broke out Jack Kavanagh, who won three National Athletic League championships this summer.
It was for Woodford Green with Essex Ladies and her effort here took her from a time of 14:21 and 17th place in the event last year, 15 seconds off her previous best of 13:48.
This beat third-placed Matthew Ramsden by a second, whose 13:49 helped his sporting goods company sponsor the team win, and took half a minute off his previous best.

Baldwin Magnuson (Paul Stillman)
The women’s race was won by Herne Hill Kiwi Giorgi Grgek in 15:34, some 13 seconds to Jess Gibbon, who just pipped Wales’ Beth Kiddger for second.
Grgech’s time was 11 seconds off his previous best set in another podium race in May, which finished 41st at the world cross country championships.
Jess Gibbon, the South of England cross-country champion, set a personal best of 16:03 for 5km in Colchester the previous week, but was 16 seconds faster here in 15:47. Kidger was also in new territory after moving up from ninth here last year.
Holly Dixon and Poppy Tank were close behind, also on 16 minutes, and as in the men’s race, there were plenty of personal bests.
In a very deep women’s field and in her first race of the year, highly rated and multiple age group champion Olivia Forrest improved her best to 16:34. The 15-year-old was not far behind the 16:48 of Reading’s Lizzie Sheridan, whose own new mark saw her second in the under-15 rankings.

ANTRIM COAST HALF MARATHON, Larne, Northern Ireland, August 25.
Kenya’s Alex Nzioka Mata ran 59:37 in Padova, Italy in April, and the 27-year-old was under the hour again in 59:46 in Northern Ireland.
This provided a 41-second gap over compatriot Hilary Kipkoech, who also has a best of 59:37, but who here found 60:27 enough for two-time Tokyo Marathon winner Birhanu Legese.
Best of the British runners was Swansea’s Dewey Griffiths in 12th place in 63:17, with Ben Alcock next home in a personal best of 65:03.
Still down in 19th place, Bideford’s Ronnie Richmond matched his personal best in 65:36 to top the British M40 rankings for the year and confirm his ninth place on the all-time veterans list.
In the women’s division, Ethiopia’s Yalemzerf Yehualaw took the honors in 65:31, her fifth world ranking of the year, ahead of seventh-ranked Lois Kemnung, who ran 66:47, as seven women broke the 70-minute barrier.
