When Ben Griffin’s blow from 35 meters fell on the right side of a Cup for an impossible bird of Birdie in The Zurich Classic, he not only sealed the deal in his first PGA PGA victory, but also the history of golf equipment.
In this sport, brands falling from PGA Tour usually do not return. Before the turn of the century, there were brands like MacGregor, Spalding, Hogan, Lynx and more. While some of them still do golf clubs today, many thirsty professional golf fans cannot name them or do not know they have made golf clubs.
You see this happening today with Nike, who came out of the Golf Hardgoods space in 2016, and slowly the phase in PGA Tour.
These companies leave professional golf and usually do not return.
But Griffin was using a golf ball from one of those explosions from the past, specifically Maxfli Tour x. And no, I’m not writing to tell you that Griffin was using a cryogenically frozen ball for 20+ years, he is using a new brand creation that just won its first PGA Tour title since 2003.
“It is very good,” Golfin golf told the beginning of this week. “You know that when I first started with Maxfli, this was a great deal of purpose. I always had a lot of confidence in the brand. I know, at the time, there were not many people who had faith, especially at the essential level. But after passing all testing and everything, I realized that this is a product that deserves a place in the tournament.” “
A year of victory in doing
Griffin signed a ball of ball approval with the brand last year after I saw Lexi Thompson approve the golf ball And talking to her. They both, along with the PGA Tour Fred Fun champions player, are the first three to approve Maxfli after the brand was bought by Dick’s Sporting Goods in 2008.
‘We were all in shock’: Within the new agreement of the Lexi Thompson approval
But the idea of restoring the ball back into the hands of the best of the game did not start until then.
“A few years ago, we said,” You know what? We really think that Maxfli has such an excellent legacy that we have to turn this to be a ball that would be played in the tour, ”Dick’s executive leader Ed Stack said in an interview on Friday.
In 2023, when the company released this year’s Tour series, they really thought they had achieved the goal. They shattered it around and eventually took Thompson to play the ball and Griffin followed quickly after that.
“We have a great team that works for this,” Stack said. “We were very committed to finding a way to have a ball that would have the performance characteristics to be able to be played in the tournament. So it was just a lot of work and repetition.”
‘It was an intelligent’: within a surprise agreement of a Tour Pro gears
Stack had just finished playing Golf at the TPC Sawgrass on Sunday and was watching Zurich’s end from a sports bar not far from the Golf course with the rest of the four couples in his group.
“All of us boys had the phone sitting right in the middle of the table,” he said. “When he made the blow to 17, we were all pretty much -off.”
No need for gaps
Golf balls are Zurich Classic’s “big conversation”, Griffin said because of his unique format. Zurich is the only event of the PGA Tour team and while they play the best ball on Thursday and Saturday, and fired alternatives on Friday and Sunday. The latest format means that teams have to choose the ball of one partner or the other.
Last year’s winners, Rory Mcilroy and Shane Lowry, used a void of rules and changed balls in each hole, so anyone who played access could hit their golf ball, but most other teams chose a ball and stick with it.
This can sometimes be complicated, as players usually don’t think what golf ball they play when choosing partners.
Not only did Ben Griffin won only with a Golf Maxfli ball, for the first time in age, but the word from Maxfli is that he and Andrew Novak decided to play Ben’s Maxfli Tour X in the four!

Griffin and Novak both decided Play Griffin’s Maxfli Tour x in the format of the four.
While there is not much differentiation between golf premium balls these days, tour professionals are so accurate and so used for what their favorite ball does, playing another can be unpredictable.
Ben Griffin and Andrew Novak Clubs: Within the Classic Zurich Decides
Griffin said Novak did the masters’ week at Sea Island and realized that he would be good using Griffin Maxfli. He was playing the “worst ball”, where he would play two balls and get the worst shot until he entered the green.
“He texted and was like,” Yes, I’m three under the worst ball on the island of the sea using your maxfli. So I think we will use Maxfli. “”
A bright future ahead
In many ways, Griffin was the perfect player to be Maxfli’s first winner in 22 years. After graduating from North Carolina, he fought in the lower tour before finally giving up professional golf to become a mortgage officer. He finally found his car again and won his card at Korn Ferry Tour and won his first PGA Tour victory in his third season.
“Never give up on your dreams, you know? We had a dream to get a ball that had those features to be able to play back on the tournament,” Stack said. “Ben has never given up on this dream and has returned with a revenge. And we cannot be more excited about Ben and more excited to see what Ben can do in the future.”
Stack has already said in the week since Griffin’s victory that there has been greater interest in Maxfli’s golf balls, both in tours and retail levels. Griffin teased that he may not be the only Maxfli Golfli Ball approved in PGA Tour for Long (the company announced an approval agreement with Tour Swing Coach and Top 100 Golf teacherSean Foley, in March).
I tested the first counterfeit handcuffs of Maxfli in nearly 30 years. Here’s what I have learned
Time for the company could not be better as they simply launched two groups of counterfeit cuffs last monthThe first counterfeit clubs under the name Maxfli in nearly 30 years.
This summer, Stack said Golf balls, which up to this point have been exclusively available on Dick’s and Golf Galaxy, will be available in pro -branded club stores. There was also interest with other retail partners.
Moreover, says Griffin, to keep an open mind when it comes to your golf ball.

Maxfli Tour x Golf Balls
Best for players who require more rotation and speed at a higher start, from each club to their bag.
I will be the first to admit that I am skeptical of Ball Maxfli when I first tried them, but soon realized that these balls were as good as anyone else I was playing. Now regularly rotate in Maxfli tournament (Slightly lower rolling version of Griffin’s Tour X) in my bag. There is also an equal low rotary tour. Those with retail for only $ 39.99 a dozen and Four dozen may have for a little less than $ 120.
“I think testing the ball is one of those things that is not just as it is done by amateur players, and even collegial players,” he said. “Everyone has different swing, and a golf ball can make a big difference.
“When I was doing tests for the first time, I was definitely pessimistic about it and became extremely optimistic after seeing the test results … It was a really fun trip with Maxfli.”
