Going the distance this winter? Start with one of these 3 training tools

Every winter, golfers say the same thing: “I want more distance next season.” Who wouldn’t? The distance doesn’t show up because you shook a stick harder a few times in the garage. Appears when speed, strength and ranking are improved together.

If your goal is to gain distance this winter, I’m going to focus on three training tools that tackle the problem from different angles. Those are the three I would start with.

Stack System

Stack golf training aid and swing speed trainer

of The Stack System is a weighted speed training system paired with an app-based program that tracks movement speed over time.

Speed training only works when you can measure progress, follow a plan and adjust based on results. With The Stack, you see small changes over time and every session is measured. I think working on this in the off-season (rather than mid-season) is beneficial to my game.

of Stack it gives you a clear picture of whether your training is working and allows you to focus less on trying to force speed.

GolfForever

If you’re not strong or mobile enough to move faster, the speed just won’t show up.

I have started working with GolfForever system and my goal this winter is not to chase speed. It is to use the program continuously. The distance will follow.

What separates GolfForever from general fitness routines is how specific it feels to golf. Movements translate directly into swings. One big thing I like is that the system never feels reckless.

At no time of use GolfForever Did I feel like I was putting myself at risk for injury or throwing off my golf swing in any way? The initial assessment helps ensure you start from the right place and work your way up. It’s a smart system that helps players of all levels build speed and endurance.

Power switching board

One of the most common issues I see when golfers return to the course after the off-season is a lack of lower body engagement. You instinctively know how to move your arms and hands. The legs, however, tend to sit there like a sleeping child in the back of the classroom.

of Power switching board it forces the legs to wake up and increases awareness of the weight shift in your golf swing. Early versions of this product didn’t do much for me. The feedback was not strong enough and the noise was barely audible. This has been corrected in the latest model.

The current version provides clear and unmistakable feedback and is one of the best-selling training aids in 2025.
