Atalanta secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Cremonese, with an early offensive surge proving decisive despite a late scare.
Atalanta secured a crucial 2-1 Serie A win against Cremonese at the New Balance Arena on 9 February 2026. Early goals from Nikola Krstovic and Davide Zappacosta were decisive, although Morten Thorsby’s Cremonese goal set up a tense finish.
Coming into the match, Atalanta sat comfortably in 7th position with 36 points, aiming to cement their European ambitions with strong recent form. Cremonese, 15th on 23 points, were desperate for points to escape the relegation battle, having struggled with recent results.
Atalanta started strongly, immediately pushing for an early goal. His dominance quickly paid off in the 13th minute. Giacomo Raspadori slipped a pass to Nikola Krstovic, who beat Emil Audero.
The locals continued to press with intensity. Just 12 minutes later, in the 25th minute, Atalanta doubled their lead. Mario Pasalic provided a precise assist for Davide Zappacosta, who fired home with a powerful finish.
Cremonese struggled to contain Atalanta’s attacking flow, managing just two shots on target throughout the game. Goalkeeper Emil Audero was called upon several times, making seven saves to keep the score respectable.

In stoppage time, Cremonese finally found an answer. In the 90th+4th minute, Morten Thorsby headed in an assist from Sebastiano Luperto. That late strike reduced the deficit and set up a nervy finish.
Atalanta dominated the stats with 57% possession, 29 total shots and 9 on target. Cremonese managed a total of 12 shots, but only 2 found the net. Atalanta have also won 13 corners compared to Cremonese’s two.
The final whistle blew shortly after Thorsby’s goal, confirming Atalanta’s hard-fought 2-1 victory. This result strengthens their grip on a place in the European classification, while Cremonese remain in a precarious position in the bottom half of the table.
