Giorgi Mamardashvili issues warning to Alisson over Liverpool future

Giorgi Mamardashvili has warned Alisson that he is ready to fight for minutes at Liverpool next season once the summer signing completes a move to Anfield in the summer.

Liverpool made the surprise decision to sign Mamardashvili in the summer in a £25m deal which saw the 24-year-old return to Valencia for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

As it stands, Mamardashvili must join Liverpool next summer, although his chances of playing regularly currently look slim as he will be behind Alisson, perhaps the best goalkeeper in the world, in the pecking order.

However, Mamardashvili has rejected suggestions he could be loaned out again if Alisson stays at Anfield.

“I was attracted to the Liverpool project when the club’s representatives met with me to sign me,” he said First Channel in Georgia “I will fight for the position of starting goalkeeper, even if the current goalkeeper does not leave the team.”

Current Liverpool MP Caoimhin Kelleher has openly admitted his desire to leave the club after growing tired of being stuck behind Alisson, with Mamardashvili’s imminent arrival likely to ease the disaffected international’s exit of the Republic of Ireland next summer.

Alisson has been heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool, with clubs in Saudi Arabia known to be chasing his signature, although there is no concrete suggestion yet that the 32-year-old could move on.
