The new one Ghost Golf Magnetic Golf Club and Shoe Brush has arrived, and they were kind enough to send me one in each of the new colors (navy, black, and gray).
There’s a lot of competition in this space and, frankly, I’m not usually particularly excited by something like a club brush, but I have to say they’ve clearly put some thought into their new offering.

First impressions
When I first unlocked the brushes, I immediately questioned the decision to add two brush heads. Two brush heads means two things to keep in check and creates a point of failure with the bristles of the brush itself. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there is a very clear difference between the two brush heads and the way they have constructed the nice big bristles is an easy way to keep them from fraying or creating a point of failure in the life of the brush.
The stiff bristle brush worked really well on dirty sticks and the soft bristle brush didn’t bother me as I cleaned a pair of my favorites Payntr Eighty Seven SC Golf Shoes. As far as having two things to keep an eye on…can’t say it’s not a problem, but I’d argue that the club brush could probably stay in the garage at home to clean the shoes every couple of rounds, so the chances of losing the brush head are slim.

My favorite features
There are two prominent features of the brush: the magnet and the retractable cable. These are your two options for security. So, how do you make sure you don’t lose your brush? There is another very popular club brush on the market and I can’t even count how many I’ve lost because the magnet style just doesn’t hold up over time or on a crank.
I haven’t tested the Ghost brush on a full-speed cart yet, but the magnet is strong enough for me to take a golf club with it, and the form factor of the brush is about the size of the golf cart bar you’ll be attaching it to, as shown by the picture on the back of the package. I’ll talk more about that factor in a minute.

The best retractable system in the game?
The secondary attachment option is their retractable clip/rope. The clasp itself is a quality metal latch that doesn’t easily bend inwards; a problem with other golf brushes and bag accessories on the market, including the carabiner that holds my range box in my bag.
However, what’s inside the clip is the real winner. Instead of using a flimsy thread or elastic material, they’re using a coiled cable similar to what you’d find in a bike lock or other cable block. Excellent. How easy it is for them to make sure the retractable feature doesn’t break after your third round with the new brush. Again, I can’t tell you how many brushes I’ve thrown away or lost over the years because that flimsy little retractable cable snaps.

Thought in every part
Welcome here. This brush isn’t going anywhere. Even the little cap that goes into the actual brush is more built than others I’ve seen. It is impossible to accidentally insert the button. It snaps at the back of the brush and there was nothing I could do with my hands to release it. I had to grab a mallet and apply some pressure just to get the brush off the rope. Wonderful stuff.

Does it really clean your clubs?
Actually using the brush itself is quite pleasant. The form factor of the brush feels like you’re holding a large pencil, or you can grip the entire brush if you need to use a little more force. The water mechanism is easy and I don’t know how I would measure the amount of water it puts out, but about two pumps is really all you need. They say there are about 400 pumps inside the tank so it will be a while between refills.
Pro tip: put a drop of soap inside the brush, it will work wonders on your cleats and shoes. The replaceable brush heads are very easy to remove, but won’t come off if you don’t want them to, and the same goes for the cap on the water tank. Just be sure to put the cap back on after filling with water. Been there done that.
