itWho stands for the golf handicap and the information network, dates back to 1980, when the Metropolitan Golf Association (NY) approached the USGA looking for a best, “official” Handikapi software provider. Here we are, more than 40 years later, continuing to renew and modernize the platform.
Most thirsty players know what a Handikapi® index is – a single number that mats Your game skill. The handicaping index is essential for the Ghin platform, as players enroll for membership in their local Aleat Golf (Aga) and receive a handicapped ID used to unlock Ghin’s full features. If you have a handicap index and live in the US, you can use Ghin to post results, monitor your handicap index, keep the result in a row, play games and even use advanced features like GPS and Putt Maps. Also, a whole digital platform used by association administrators and Golf Club to see player information, manage updates and changes in handicaps and communicate directly with players.
But what people know most these days is Mobile app. Its use has increased exponentially since the start of the app in 2012. In 2024, more than 2.5 million people used the app to post more than 80 million results. In fact, the most popular recreational golf application on the market without question.
Looking forward, the USA is doubled in Ghin’s future, shifting the app from a tool to post results in a comprehensive golf companion. Future investments, some that come from this year, will include a new look and feeling to make things easier and simpler, statistics and improved knowledge in your game, and exciting social features that gamble golf beyond the sport it is today.
Ghin’s future is bright, and it is just getting better. So if you are not yet united in millions already using the app, now is the time to board board – because the best is still to come.
