Gervonta Davis is targeting November 23 or December 14 for the next fight

Gervonta Davis is reportedly looking at November 23rd or December 14th if he does fight this year.

Possible double header

If Tank fights on December 14th, PBC could put him and light heavyweight David Benavidez on the same card and sell on PPV at a high price. Having those two share the card would be one way to bring in buys, especially if they receive lesser-known opposition that casual boxing fans have never heard of.

According to Dan Rafael, these are the two dates that Tank Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) can fight if he returns to the ring this year. Rumors of tank battles on November 2 were not accurate.

As for Tank’s opponent, it is still unknown who he will fight. Edwin De Los Santos and Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela are two names that have been floated as potential opponents. However, ‘Rayo’ (14-2, 9 KOs) recently captured the WBA 140-lb title, and it may be difficult for him to melt down to 135 to fight Gervonta for his WBA ‘regular’ lightweight belt.

Tank, 29, is coming off an eighth-round knockout of Frank Martin on June 15 in a card he shared with David Benavidez on PPV. The event generated 350,000 PPV buys. Without PBC to pair Gervonta and Benavidez on the same card, it would probably have poor numbers because there wasn’t much of a demand from fans for a Tank-Martin fight.

Shakur-esque opponent required

Whatever Tank fights, it could be his last before a match between him and Shakur Stevenson takes place in 2025. Therefore, Tank has to fight someone with a similar style to Shakur to get him ready. Rayo Valenzuela is a smooth player, but he’s big compared to Shakur and can punch.

Rayo is a much stronger fighter than Shakur, but he can move around the ring with a Shakur-like style when needed. Rayo is a more entertaining version of Shakur and someone who would connect more with American fans than the Matchroom promoted fighter.
