The Aldershot woman wins gold in Tonbridge just a week after running 2:44:47 at the Pisa Marathon, while Gibbens leads Tonbridge’s dominance in the men’s race.
7.5 miles SOUTH OF THAMES CHAMPIONSHIP, Tonbridge, Kent
Somerhill School hosted the event, which has been on the calendar since 1888 for the men and since 2004 for the women, and Georgie Bruynwells extended her dominance in the Association’s women’s events with another win.
The Aldershot master had won the team’s race south of the Thames in November with three wins over the shorter five-mile race and two second-place finishes, and here Bruinwells made it three wins over the tougher seven-and-a-half furlongs. – mile championship distance.
The victory marked a swift recovery for the 36-year-old, as it came just six days after his 2:44:47 marathon in Pisa, which was third best compared to his 2:38:22 in last year’s Manchester Marathon In 2017: 2:37:03.
Bruinwells noted how well he ran on a different but challenging course and said:
“I’d say I felt good, it’s always nice to run in mixed races, especially over the cross and when they’re longer. I just worked hard when it was good underfoot and tried to stay straight when it wasn’t.” : It was also nice to do another course.”
Just like in the shorter race in November, Belgrave Harriers easily won the women’s team medals, with Rachel Brown in second place outscoring teammate Emily Robbins to lead them to victory.

The men’s race is dominated by hosts Tonbridge as their Cole Gibbons, who has two wins at 10 miles in Kent this year, leads their six runners to finish in the top nine.
It was Stuart Brown who finished second for Tonbridge as third-placed Findlay Dyer helped Belgrave narrowly claim the runners-up men’s team medals from Tonbridge’s B team.

SALTWELL 10km ROAD RACE, Gateshead, Tyne & Wear, 21 December
Lynton Taylor and Lucy Crooks took on an event billed as ‘England’s oldest road race’.
In an undulating three-lap course, Taylor, the 2020 England national cross-country bronze medallist, won the men’s race in 32:44, while Crooks, a former team-mate of Taylor’s at Leeds, took the women’s title from W45 and three-time English schools winner Justina Heslop At 37:20.
It was only Crooks’ second outing since November this year’s Memorial win over Heaton Harriers, his first outing in over a year.

Bournemouth asylum seeker Abdinasir Elmi cruised to a comfortable victory over Cameron Allan and Andrew Penney in 23:10 as he operated as the paceman of the entire field.
Since leaving Somalia for the UK, Elmi is now unbeaten in nine races since he ran the 10km for the first time at the end of September, and his club said that while in Somalia, Abdinasir spent time training with some of the world’s best athletes, including Mo Farah and Bashir Abdi. He runs a half marathon in 63 minutes and 64 minutes.”
Here, Aland and Penny had no answer as Elmi pulled away from the start, establishing a nine-second lead over a large group after more than a kilometer in 2:35.
The chasing group was now over a dozen strong, with Jonathan Collier slightly ahead of the rest.
The chasers made it to eight, led by Ben Alcock, two-thirds of the way away before the final shot saw Elmy lead 28 seconds, then back to 21 seconds as Alan beat Penny and Sam Gebreselassie in 23;31.
In the women’s division, Naomi Tashimowitz finished 10 seconds ahead of Kate Estlea-Morris in 26:57, with Ruby Carter third in 27:31.
It was the first outing for the over-35 from Shaftesbury since a 2:40:30 marathon debut in Amsterdam in October.
Runners in the older age groups generally missed out on the race, but over-60s Claire Elms crossed the line in 30:47, just three seconds off her own British W60 best set at Wolverton in November. Whom: This was the first and slower race of the two offered.
