Georgia Bell and Jake Wightman are set to compete in the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix


British middle-distance runners are among those competing in the big event in the United States on February 2

This time last year, Georgia Bell was trying to break into international indoor racing. Twelve months later, and with an Olympic 1500m bronze medal to her credit, she was invited to take on the elite 3000m field at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston on February 2nd. :

Australian Jess Hull, who finished just ahead of her at the Paris Olympics, is among her rivals in Boston.As well as winning Olympic silver last year, Hull set a world record of 5:19.70 in the 2000m and set Australian records in the 1500m, mile and 3000m.

They may not have it all their own way in Boston, however, as multiple NCAA champion Parker Valby is also in. After attending the University of Florida, Valby has now settled in Boston, where he trains under coach Mark Coogan.

Further signings for next month’s event in Boston include Noah Lyles and Marcel Jacobs, the last two Olympic 100m winners, who will go head-to-head in the men’s 60m.

Olympic 400m hurdles champion Rye Benjamin will run in the 300m, among others.In the sprint hurdles, Grant Holloway is set to lead the way.Julien Alfred leads the way in the women’s 60m :

2022 1500m world champion Jake Wightman continues his winter season, battling it out in the men’s 1500m with Grant Fisher, the US record holder from 3000m to 10,000m.
