George Martin will share the MotoGP title with Aprilia after joining Frank from 2025.


Jorge Martin put in an impressive performance last season to win his first title in a battle with Francesco Bagnaia.

Martin says he faces a big challenge to help Aprilia keep up with Ducati bikes and would be happy to start the season with a top-five finish.

He told the Tengo Un Plan podcast: “The challenge is huge because I’m riding a bike that I’ve never finished eighth or ninth, versus a bike that’s first, second, third and fourth. Ducati.

“If I start fifth and finish a race I will be proud or second. The important thing is to move forward.

“So, of course, it’s not going to be easy to take Aprilia and take him to that team, and I know that. So my goal is not to win the world championship this year.

“Maybe in 2026, I can think more about that to fight for the championship. But, now, it’s about seeing how I am, giving my best and seeing what happens.”

Martin will need to stay consistent as he adjusts to fight his way back into midfield as mistakes hamper his and Aprilia’s progress.

Martin has been very fast since his debut in MotoGP, especially after fighting for the title for the last two seasons. However, the first part of his premier class career was not smooth sailing.

A serious crash at the Portuguese Grand Prix forced Martin to miss several races after requiring surgery. He then struggled at the start to regain Martin’s early pace, which earned him a podium in the second race in Qatar.

While Martin secured his first MotoGP race win at the 2021 Styrian Grand Prix, his form continued with four retirements and numerous low points finishes.

The middle ground can be about handling and maximizing the bike’s performance. Martin’s experience should help him in 2025, as he knows how to handle scraping for a few points in the race distance.
